Good thing these agents have such high morals and can't be bribed. If drug dealers can bribe them terrorists can bribe them to sneak stuff thru too. BOOM GOES THE AEROPLANE! Meanwhile the TSA defends groping sobbing 4-year-old girls and kids with cerebral palsy. What a joke of an agency.

You mean the same people that steal your stuff on a regular basis are also easy to bribe? Huh, what a crazy world...

No worries, the TSA came out and said they were just "following procedures" for smuggling. Nothing to see, move along.

FTA: TSA employees took payments of up to $2,400 to provide drug couriers unfettered access at LAX over a six-month period last year.

Wow, these guys were getting a whopping $400 a month. If you're going to sell out, at least have some farking standards.

If they want that little to let drugs through, if I promise I don't have anything bad on me (and I don't), can I just slip them five or ten bucks and walk around the line?

/next time you're being groped, remember, most of these "highly trained and skilled" TSA agents couldn't pass the tests to get into the Army.

If somebody is going to this much trouble to smuggle drugs on a plane, I surmise that the cops must be checking out FedEx, UPS, and USPS parcels somehow.

That's like a week's pay for these guys. Can't blame a guy for trying to make a living, don't hate the player...

Why is this on the Business tab? The TSA is not a business, it's a government agency. If this was on the main page (where it should be) it would have over 100 comments by now.

I hope those paltry payouts were worth the 10-year Federal minimum...10 years in a PMITA prison for a couple grand while the masterminds laugh from afar and count their money by the fistful...

For $400 bucks I would let them sneek 1 joint by. For what they were sneeking through I would want at least $5000 a month.

If they had standards, they wouldn't be working for the TSA, accepting paychecks for sniffing Granny's panties and making four-year-olds cry.

If those bottom-rung TSA grunts were suddenly making a month's worth of cash on the side every week, it'd be too easy for their supervisors to notice. The jig would be up within a few days of them showing up to work in an H2 with 26-inch chrome rims instead of a grocery-getter with a quarter million miles on the odometer and being held together with duct tape.

Is it any real surprise that this happened in L.A.?

I swear, the TSA finds just about the worst possible people to work at the larger airports. A lot of the smaller airports are actually pretty nice. The security is friendly, courteous, and efficient (surprisingly). But the huge airports are a nightmare, especially Denver, SeaTac, LAX, and O'Hare.

I'm just glad I don't fly that often any more so I don't have to deal with the hassle.

I wonder what the TSA's employees reaction to having their bank accounts monitored? Hey, no, that's a violation!

If someone making under ten bucks an hour who normally commutes in a $500 jalopy suddenly starts showing up in one of the "after" cars from Pimp My Ride on a regular basis, you wouldn't exactly need to have been monitoring their bank account since before the change to realize something is fishy about their finances.

I was think maybe it was up to $2400 per shipment that got thru. That could be a sizable number per month.
