Tattoos do, sometimes, affect my perception of people.

I was walking around lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood a few months ago. I needed directions, but the casually, but nicely dressed young men with a tattoo of a pirates' skull and cross bones on the cheek, just under one eye: I passed them by.

Then, I noticed a young man with a cross tattooed on his cheek. He addressed me as ma'am, was very polite, and provided me excellent directions.

The other young men might have been just as sweet and helpful, but I just didn't feel comfortable striking up a conversation with them.

So when a 17 year old black male shoots his mom, it's ok to use a current photo and refer to him as a man, but, when a 17 year old black male has an altercation involving some one not brown, then he's to be referred to as a child and a 4 year old photo will be released. OK,,, Got ya press.
