sigdiamond2000: dittybopper: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.

Normally I would agree, but how do you argue intellectually with someone who thinks men liking My Little Pony is an insult to the troops?

Grown men watching MLP is wrong. It is like when you use the wrong tools for a job (as per the Dodge commercial). It is insulting to the entire gender. Of course Dodge using the analogy to sell mini-vans is also wrong.

Actual commercial line "When you use the wrong tool, you're not just making yourself look bad, you're making us all look bad."

If you think watching a cartoon makes you less of a man you probably weren't one to begin with.

Maybe you'll do a better job trolling/giving-your-opinion then the last guy who wanted to be Mr Contrarion. So:

If my wife wants to start watching Transformers: Prime every week and be proud of it, does that mean she also is now incapable of showing my daughter how to dance, different ways to do up her hair, what clothes to wear to not look like a whore, ways to use makeup and not look like a clown, etc?

I would tell the dude in the 3rd picture, mostly because I can't shake the feeling that's an airsoft replica of an M16A1. I swear the heat shield looks triangular(a telltale sign of the M16A1). Also has kind of a plastic-y sheen to it. Could be the photo though.

Meanwhile in Germany:

i48.tinypic.com

This is the official homepage of the German Green party (www.gruene.de) right now. "Pony-Werbung" == "Pony Advertisement"

(Boring back story: Other German party wanted to criticize Greens for trying to make pony riding at fairs illegal, but didn't say "pony riding" but "pony advertisement" in speech. This is the Green reply. Now the German Pirate party is protesting, as they've been using MLP pictures aplenty to defuse internal debates.)

Watching Transformers in no way degrades your wife's sandwich making DNA because as cartoons go it is/was pretty lame and ranks updown there with the Mutant Turtles. Now if she had been watching good cartoons such as the original Jonny Quest then it might see the quality of the sandwiches you receive go down.

Dinobot: likefunbutnot: The two times a year I go to comic conventions are the ONLY times I feel normal. I can meet and talk to women, get brohoofs and wear my awesome geek apparel. I'm basically the poster boy for basement dwellers but the being around an enormous group of like minded people changes my whole life for a few days. I'm not that far from Chicago, but I live in a tiny podunk blue collar town too. The cons are my escape from that.

There are actually Brony cons. There's going to be one in Northern Illinois on the third weekend in September. It's called Midwestria.

I don't think I have much geek apparel, i'd say the geekiest stuff I have is my two pony shirts and my wow tanking shirt... I mostly tend to wear sports apparel (baseball jerseys, football jerseys, caps and stuff), heck I'm a former football player.

my biggest claim to geekhood is being a typesetter for some 4komas and a former pyramid head cosplayer, and liking some mangas... but the mangas I like are not mainstream ones (the more mainstream one I like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure)

That is a manga only real men can enjoy. Cheers to you, my friend

//pt 4 had a great villain in Kira but a weak story, considering Josuke is the protagonist

*GASP* Look everyone! My cutie mark! It's a... a... Lorem Ipsum? Are you F*CKING KIDDING ME!?!?!

Why not? The one Ringshadow drew for me is a book.

Well the joke would be that Lorem Ipsum is the universal text used as a placeholder. If a Cutie Mark Crusader worked their ass off to get a mark and it said "Lorem Ipsum" it would basically mean that it's a permanent placeholder for something else and a piece of nonsense.

If you'd like more education...

Ponies dominate The Hub.

With news like that, even a cynic like me who thinks Hasbro will go 65 and out with MLP after the 13 planned season 3 episodes has to think that they wouldn't dare kill the network's cash cow.

I mentioned in another thread something about Hasbro and how well they're playing with the fans that make their own video edits and songs, and the episodes on youtube, and how they're doing the smart thing and playing nice with new technology and their new demographic.

I also mentioned that I'm a bit disappointed that the toys are still basically for young girls.

I mean, wouldn't a fully articulated Pinkie Pie toy with fourth wall breaking action and a functional party cannon still appeal to girls, as well as their new demographic? I mean, I would assume not all girls want to only brush a pony's hair... wouldn't they also want to have the Mane 6 stage a full tactical assault on Barbie's dreamhouse for the good of Equestria and have their ponies have the weaponry to back them up?

/Equality in toys!

I know lego said they will create pony sets, including derpy apparently, if they can get at least 10,000 signatures under the kreo brand.

KatjaMouse: Dinobot: FirstNationalBastard: if you hang on for part two, that's the asskicking finale part. It's like how Best of Both Worlds part 1 set up a great cliffhanger, then in part 2, you had them actually doing stuff.

the canterlot wedding is still not a good intro episode for someone new to the series; most of the intro episodes are in season 1 (and only a selected few at that) and season 2 tends to focus on single character development mostly, with one or two other ponies that serve as foil.

How about a few of these?

Sonic Rainboom
Party of One
Pinkie Keen
Lesson Zero

Good list. From season 1, I also really enjoyed #9 "Bridle Gossip".

Every time I hear Fluttershy speaking like Barry White I totes lose my shiat. Funneh!

/"Apple teeny" joke slays too.
