You have fun with that, breeder. I'm going to go parasailing with movie stars

My kids like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. My oldest (not even two years old yet) was air drumming to Weird Al Yankovic the other day. My youngest falls asleep to Disturbed playing at 11.

There's no way any of the acts in this article are any cooler than those I just described.

Yes, but our bedhead got that way from loud, lengthy, dirty sex, and we actually fixed it before leaving the house because we haven't started letting ourselves go yet.

Given that Zanes founded the Del Fuegos? Lots of people have hard of him. As for Justin Roberts, he's from here in Chicago, kinda hard to miss him.

The Laurie Berkner Band DVD is almost worn out at my house.

My son (16 mo) has recently taking a liking to Pink Floyd and Foo Fighters.
He'll sit and stare at the "Echoes - Live at Pompeii" video for the entire 24 minutes. Probably the longest he's ever sit still.

Should I show him the Wall? I think that can wait a while......

Best bands for kids?
Alice Cooper (anything before 1980)
The Beatles (any thing)
Metallica (Hate me if you will but, anything)
Montrose (and Gamma)
The list could be longer but, these are gateways.

Fishing In America live.

Trout Fishing in America are horrible. Just the epitome of "Yuck yuck aren't we wacky?" drek.

I did not see The Fresh Beat Band... so F off list

Ashtrey: fark you subby. I know who Raffi is, and what else does a kid need?

After Raffi? Restraints to stop the poor kid from killing himself. That man is the John Tesh of children's music.

Subby doesn't get Nick jr. ?

They play the hell out of . The Laurie Berkner Band. I even found one of their cd's in a Pathmark parking lot. Normally, I wouldn't know what the hell it was, but with a nephew who watches that channel all day, I grabbed it for him

/somewhere there's a kid crying for his mother to pop in his cd. T

//hough having listened to them, the mother might've tossed it on purpose

Yay! Caspar Babypants is on that list.

Been friends with Chris Ballew for a while. He even used some video footage of my son, Brennen for one of the early Caspar videos, Bug in the Cuff

Me and my son listen to Maiden, Tool and other various bands in the car when I drop him off at daycare. He sits in the back on the air drums and tries to sing along. My daughter enjoys it too.

/I have to do it, with what their mother subjects them too

Actually, I am a parent, and I have other kids at the house all the time, and other than the awesomeness that is TMBG, I've never heard of any of them.

/We did go through a "The Wiggles" phase at one point.

2012-04-26 08:27:27 AM
Trout Fishing in America is fantastic and does a lot more than just children's stuff.

/My memory tells me that they did an outstanding cover of Harry Chapin's Taxi (mid 80's maybe? I remember listening to a tape around '89) but the internets refuse to corroborate this.

2012-04-26 08:28:37 AM
"breeder", "non-breeder"...god those terms are awful.

/haven't heard of any of these 'bands' except the one subby mentioned
//has kids

2012-04-26 08:31:06 AM
List is incomplete without:

1) The Asylum Street Spankers, who put out a fantastic kids' album, and

2) Robbert Bobbert, who is the frontman for Apples in Stereo, but does all kinds of fun kids' songs on the side.

Gulper Eel: dog on fleas picture

I was booking an event and they sent me a demo, they seemed really nice.

Just sating the name Dan Zanes puts "All around the kitchen" in my head for the rest of the day, dammit.

My favorite kids band is The Terrible Twos. The singer is from the Get Up Kids.

/no kids yet
//semi-pro: I have 8 nieces and nephews and am Auntie Kate to a couple more friends' kids.

Also, Ralph's World, Folsom County Daycare makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

I pushed a toddler over, just to see him fall.
Now I'm stuck in Folsom Daycare, and it's no fun at all.

List is FAIL without the Dino 5:
- Prince Paul
- Chali 2na from Jurassic 5
- Scratch from The Roots
- Wordsworth
- Lady Bug Mecca from Digable Planets

Laurie Berkner annoys the ever living shiat out of me. Not sure why, because she's a talented enough musician and songwriter...but there's just something about her.

My kids (ages 3 yrs and 9 months) listen to a whole lot of music though. Sometimes wish my wife's friends didn't influence their playlist though:

- Beyonce - "Single Ladies"
- Black Eyed Peas - "Boom Boom Pow"

Now for the stuff I can actually stand:

- M.E.D. (feat. Epslion Project) - "R.E.M."
- Ocote Soul Sounds - "Pirata" (my 3 year old made up her own lyrics to it and will sing every time she hears it)
- Yo Gabba Gabba - pretty much any song I play, though "Party in my Tummy" and "I Like Bugs" come to mind

2012-04-26 08:54:41 AM
I have heard of exactly one.

And my child liked to head bang to Metallica at 3, was singing the Malcolm in the Middle theme by 4 and by 6 was a fan of "Girl all the bad guys want" by Bowling for Soup for some reason. He was never in to kid's music.

2012-04-26 08:55:36 AM
My 8 month old LOVES Caspar Babypants. Had no idea he was from PotUSA. Awesome.

List fails without Bill Harley.

/also, I remember Recess Monkeys from the 80s
