Amazing Screw On Head's pilot was fantastic. It would have made a great series.

If they can keep anybody in a suit a million miles away from it, they might succeed. It's hard to capture the manic energy of a child and an indulgent big brother on a project that requires such a large number of people working together on it.

Yeah, I should have RTFA'd before commenting. While "Global Frequency" the series was nowhere near as good as the book, it was a very promising pilot. The biggest issue I had with it was the way they were planning to focus on the cop guy as the main protagonist. I understand the TV logic of having a set cast and not trying to build an anthology series, but half the fun of the book was the "Blue Blaze Irregulars" feel of Global Frequency. It was a sprawling, global organization that anybody could be a part of, if they had some useful skill.

But the Blue Blaze Irregulars have more style, so- hey.

The pacing of Global Frequency was insane. It never let up for once second.

Although everything seemed to be reminiscent of something I'd seen before, pacing-wise Run Lola Run is the only thing I can think of that tops it without being completely annoying and completely losing its narrative thread.

If you go into the live action tick expecting it to be the cartoon, you might be disappointed.

If you judge it on its own merits, the live action Tick was pretty damn good.

Actually, I take that back. You could. But you'd have to have made it in the 60s, cast Patrick McGoohan in the lead role, and include a floating beachball of death.

Honestly, most of the stuff in the animated series was specifically created for the animated series.

The comic books didn't have Sewer Urchin, Die Fledermaus, Speak, Carmelita was never named, nor did she appear in anything other than a one page cameo, The Evil Midnight Bomber wasn't there...

And there was already enough in the comics to fuel a live action series without using the animated stuff.

To be honest, she's worked better that way. The New 52 version of Wonder Woman is ten times more interesting than anything she's done in the ten years before.

that's why the last few seasons were not that great. you could tell that they were trying to cram as many DC characters into the show in hopes of spring-boarding some successful spin-offs.

There is a Green Arrow show in the works starring Stephen Amell. It is currently in post-production.
They just don't know if it's truly been picked up yet.

You could also tell, at least in his first few appearances, before he became one of the main characters, that anything involving the Green Arrow had been written for Bruce Wayne, not Oliver Queen.

TIL that they actually made an Eltingville pilot.

I watched all three parts on Youtube. It became much more arch and shrill in its animated version. I don't think it worked as well as the comic.

Anything written by Joe Hill would have been laughed out of agents' offices across America if it wasn't for his dad and an inborn marketing campaign. Derivative, pointless, and relies on gimmicky turns of the phrase.

What they DO need to do is take a very old Sunday comic strip character and bring them to a show complete with the time period. Gasoline Alley, etc., etc.

Can't remember) rejecting the pilot and probably commissioning several new 'reality shows' instead, they went on record saying that because the pilot had been leaked and so heavily downloaded they would never revisit the idea nor would the pilot be released on DVD. Ever. They also own the rights to make a TV version of it.

It really is the perfect example of how retarded these companies can be. People WANTED a series of it, they wanted to pay for it. So instead of taking the very favorable response they were seeing, from their target audience for the show and reversing their decision instead they throw the baby and bathwater out.

The comic, I mean- not to be confused with the utterly unrelated and incredibly terrible show, "The Cape". Terrible in the most awesome way, though. Man, I loved that show.
