Hey, WND? Transgender people are not inherently rapists. Please stop claiming that transgender people being allowed to use the right bathroom is going to invite rape.

/Good lord, let them take a piss already.

Again with the showers! Why is it that when religious nutjobs start that final swing around the drain, they start freaking out about showers? First it was the military, all hot&bothered about our boys having to lather up with other hard-muscled manly men in open stalls; now it's the Xtians scared they might have to have co-ed showers in churches, long notorious for their bathing facilities.

Someone has naked showering on the brain, and I think I know who and why. Hint: It ain't teh homogheys.

We can only hope that this is a sign of WND in its last throes.

This would radically reduce the number of christains in the next generation.

At least based on the congregations at the churches I was forced to attend.

Of course it will. The only thing stopping a rapist right now is that sign on the door of the stick figure in a dress. Take away that sign, and you might as well change the name from restroom to raperoom.

I really don't see how this is a problem...

Co-ed showers are a canard. They don't exist, no one desires that they be installed. (except pervy old me of course)

It appears that they're getting all bent out of shape by transgendered or people with different gender identity "walking in on the ladies"

If you have someone who cross dresses, why wouldn't they just change with the people they look similar to naked? A drag queen disrobed looks like any other guy, same thing vice versa. No one gets freaked out.

And it already doesn't matter if any of these people are attracted to their fellows in the shower room. Gay people have been using these same facilities as well.

Maybe you'll do a double take when the guy next to you zips up a skirt, but really this seems like a ridiculous non-problem that riles up people, until you apply just a second of critical thought.

Someone posted upthread about the priests showering with the altar boys, that sums it up for me...

Actually, from what I've heard, they tend to be fine with men showering together in big open rooms. Why, that's how they did it when they were lads in elementary school and high school after gym classes, their taut young bodies getting lathered up in the hot water, the steam filling the air and making it tough to see clearly so that it's tough to see if the boy across the way is just washing his hair or looking at you, and is the flush on his cheeks from the recent exercise or something... more?

At least, that's what they always said when I complained about the lack of stalls.

I guess the issue is that you basically are required to allow people to choose which locker room to use based on how they self-identify, not based on their birth equipment. Or at least I think that's what it is. TFA gave me a headache

You sure about that? I love a good sexy gay shower. The guys who built my current place were idiots, so one of the bathrooms has TWO separate shower units, one that's a giant walk in with two shower heads. Pretty much the best place for gay shower stuff ever.

Esc7: It appears that they're getting all bent out of shape by transgendered or people with different gender identity "walking in on the ladies"

I think the real issue is how do you define gender identity, or more importantly, how do you verify/gender identity. Specifically - you are not allowed to verify it. I like to think of myself as pretty male and I love lookin at the ladies. Under this legislation, if I go to the YMCA, I can simply inform them I'm a male to female transgendered person. They are not allowed to verify it or require me to prove it before using the restroom or gender-segregated facility.

They refer to gender identity situations as transgendered people. What about a pre-op transgendered person? Again, recall you are not allowed to ID or verify in any way. Nothing is stopping me from being a pervy perv declaring I'm pre-op so let me into the ladies room.

I know of several churches that have provided shelter space for homeless teens or abused women, and a few that have acted as sanctuaries for undocumented Central American immigrants (although not so much of that since the 80's).

Well sure. When offered in such general terms it's hard to disagree with that. Question is, is that a real concern in the context of the article (which is suspect to begin with)?

I don't want Christians gouging out my eyeballs with red hot pokers. Am I afraid that will happen if these anti-discrimination laws don't pass? Nope.

Grover Cleveland Alexander

Philadelphia Phillies (1911-17, 1930), Chicago Cubs (1918-25), St. Louis Cardinals (1926-29)

Alexander set a rookie record with 28 wins (throwing 367 innings), and had 345 more after that. He's No. 3 all-time in wins 373 (tied with Mathewson), with a live fastball and a sharp curve and great control. For the Phillies from 1911-17, he won 190 games, a third of the team's total. He holds the record for shutouts in a season with 16 in 1916.

Oh I guess I wasn't really thinking from a transgendered person's point of view. I feel kind of guilty.

If they self-identify as the opposite sex (of which they were born) so strongly that they wish to use a locker room that may cause some raised eyebrows, let them! I don't care, pre-op, post-op, cross dresser, transgendered, intersex, if it is important to you, you should pick the door you want.

I think personal validation and choice should outweigh the few people that would object. Especially when everyone should be giving each other a wide berth of privacy!

Some trolls are asking about the "perv loophole" for declaring you're a woman in an fat middle aged man's body. I'm pretty sure leering at people in a locker room is universally frowned upon, no matter what sex you may be.
