(WorldNetDaily)   Laws banning discrimination based on sexual orientation are evil liberal plots because they could require Christian churches to install co-ed showers. Seriously   (wnd.com) divider line 219

Even as compared to their usual weapons-grade derp level, Wing Nut Daily seems even more derptastic than usual today. Anyway, I could see how this could present problems for some churches. Imagine how a priest would feel if, when taking his daily shower with the alter boys, some nun walked in!

The "coed shower" plans have been around for several years, with the infamous battle in Montgomery County, Md.

Where?

DETAILS DAMMIT!!

I do my part to punish the gay people in my locker room by walking around without a towel.
With that level of punishment, they quickly learn to not look.

I love that some bigot found the need to not only get the website : notmyshower.com but also maintain it.

FTA:
"I am an American citizen [being targeted] over the persecution of homosexuals as they define it as a crime against humanity - for speaking the truth of the Bible in a foreign country," Scott Lively of Abiding Truth Ministries told WND after he found out about the legal action.

He said the definition of "crime against humanity" comes from European progressives, and the accusations appear to be based on his speeches and writings about the Bible's teaching on homosexuality.

From the NY Times:
Mr. Lively is the founder and president of Abiding Truth Ministries. He is also the author of "The Pink Swastika: Homosexuality in the Nazi Party," which says that Nazism was a movement inspired by homosexuals, and "Seven Steps to Recruit-Proof Your Child," a guide to prevent what he calls "pro-homosexual indoctrination."

I always wondered if stupidity could ever become so dense it would collapse upon itself.

The organization noted, "If the Hutchinson city measure passes, places of worship that rent out to the general public would be required to rent out their building for homosexual marriages or drag queen parties."

Yeah, all the gays and cross-dressers I know are just chomping at the bit to rent out churches.

I really love this, though. They're afraid the government will dictate how they conduct business and with whom. Yet they eschew the idea of the separation clause.

They want it their way, all the time, and on their terms.

Diogenes: Why would homosexuals want coed showers?

not the gays
the transgenders and identity people
the men who are women trapped in a man's body want to be able to change in the female locker room.
I am totally ok with this and want to change there too ...
alas, it will just be filled with transgenders and pervs like me ...
the women will just give up and change at home

They're desperate because they know they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of installing Team Republican in the White House.

Oh, I get it now.

I still don't see this as pressing issue.

They've got a real challenge ahead of them, these fundies. Since treating homosexuals and the transgendered equally doesn't really infringe on their rights, they have to make shiat up.

This old canard? I remember when my batshiat crazy 6th grade art teacher tried to tell us our parents should vote against the Equal Rights Amendment because it would lead to co-ed showers and bathroom stalls or some damn thing.

This was also the woman who showed us "Nostradamus: The Man Who Saw Tomorrow" in all seriousness and was convinced barcodes were the Number of the Beast. I had an early education in herp-a-derp.

Banning discrimination means we must allow co-ed showers.
Banning Home-Defense Howitzers means we must ban slingshots.
Gay marriage means we must allow gay multicultural polygamist turtles to marry IKEA furniture and the moon Titan.
Banning murder means that the UN will euthanize humans to feed cows in reparation for centuries of non-vegan rule.

Just as a point of reference, sexual orientation has been a protected class in Canada since 1995, when our Supreme Court ruled that it was implicitly included in the wording of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. I think if that had led to all the bizarre consequences and total breakdown of society that the WingNuts are so concerned about, I would have heard about it by now.

I'm glad they've finally found a scenario where their "the government will force churches to conduct gay marriages" scaremongering. Usually they try to pretend that the government would force churches to perform services for people they don't agree should be married, even though the government has never done so before on other groups (ex: the fact that divorced Catholics are not supposed to be allowed to remarry has never lead to a civil rights claim or the government trying to say "they got a marriage certificate, you have to give them a ceremony.")

Their argument now is that if they try to rent out their property for profit the government will say they can't say they don't allow any gay people to rent or use the facilities. That actually is a possible scenario, because once you enter the public marketplace the fact that the owner has religious ties doesn't mean they can ignore the rules of society. It's like wage laws: there is no way a pastor/deacon/rabbi/whatevercan sue their church for making less than minimum wage, but Notre Dame can't decide to stop paying the Professors and them claim religious freedom as their reason.
