Now with limited edition 'textured' paint job

FTFA:
Ferrari Enzo supercars, of which only 399 were built for public sale, typically fetch up to a million dollars or more on the open market. It's not clear who much this example will go for, though it should still be a princely sum despite the poor condition the car must be in.

I'm betting it's in very good shape.

Dubai can't afford a tarp?

2012-04-25 02:24:00 PM
Those pictures make me sad.

2012-04-25 02:24:14 PM
Funny thing is you're still probably liable for the fines.

2wolves: Dubai can't afford a tarp?

Seriously couldn't they say "Hey that car is worth a million dollars how about we buy a $20 tarp so when we do sell this at auction we will get atleast an extra $100,000 since it won't need a new paint job and the entire engine bay detailed.

Under local laws, any car left for more than six months becomes property of the state unless a clear title can be produced and there are no outstanding fines.

It's a leased car. The bank produces its proof of ownership, pays the fines, takes possession, and pursues the lessee to the ends of the earth for fines plus missed lease payments.

I can forgive letting it get covered in dust and/or sand.

I cannot forgive whoever it was that apparently wiped some of it away with their hand.

2012-04-25 04:18:32 PM
I would totally draw on it with my finger, for the lulz.

2012-04-25 04:19:41 PM
The guy that abandon it leased it. Not like he really owned it anyway.

2012-04-25 04:19:51 PM
D: How could you let it sit out like that for that long?

No sh*t. I cringed seeing that idiot touching the sand covered paint.

The wind that put it there was probably just as bad, if not worse. That paint has to be pretty bad shape if it was out there for half a year or more in multiple sandstorms.

Damn ... couldn't they protect their assets and park it indoors?

That car depreciated 75% just for being delivered to that sandblasting envrionment.
The other 25% was lost with the first curry fart.

By abandoning that, he probably dodged Death (for a little while anyways.)

2012-04-25 04:24:29 PM
Not just the fines, he couldn't afford the lease payments either.

Apparently this is pretty common, Brits fleeing debts in Dubai.

2012-04-25 04:25:01 PM
Jeez you think they could afford a garage. Well I guess police stupidity is a global thing.

Why do the British vacation in some Arab sand pile where you can go to prison for over the counter meds such as Melatonin? Want sun go to Spain or even Greece. I'm sure they'd love your shillings, guineas, pounds, doubloons or whatever you call your funny money.

Sitting for a year in the Dubai heat and dust? Eh ....

What the scientific term for people who think cars are sexy and would fark it if nobody was looking?

Yeah, you...you know the term, don't ya?

The Enzo is ElUglio. Always has been, shall always be.

2012-04-25 04:31:04 PM
Owner probably had to get the fark out of dodge before he ended up in one of their debtor prisons.

Smelly Pirate Hooker: Sitting for a year in the Dubai heat and dust? Eh ....

it's not the paint job I'd worry so much about as the interior. It's got to be cooked by now.

I do like the subtle f*ck you this will be taken as back in Maranello.

/Enzo was a complete dickhead

2012-04-25 04:34:32 PM
Love to see the condition of those tires. I hope they decide to change them out before pushing the car to its limits!

2012-04-25 04:35:33 PM
The owners of the other 398 cars are probably happy about this turn of events.

GBB: The other 25% was lost with the first curry fart.

Damn that was funny.

Carlin did a bit way back about how your own farts smell OK, but the morning shiat after eating curry will absolutely peel paint.

Paint peeling shiats don't happen for me the morning after eating curry...it's more like an hour later and I'm cursing myself for making that damned curry chicken again.

/but it's just so delicious

That is one ugly m#$%00000000)ing car.

Meh. It's no Lamborgotti Fasterossa. Now that would be tragic.

2012-04-25 04:41:40 PM
I got $50 cash right here! All they have to do is ship it to me.

2012-04-25 04:43:36 PM
Since they know they're likely to go to auction, you'd think the police would put them in a warehouse, or at least cover them up, to get a better price out of them. But I guess since it's from an ultra-wealthy country, they don't care to bother.

2012-04-25 04:44:03 PM
Don't nobody wanna go to jail in Dubai.

The fine probably involved the removal of a body part, just like every other punishment over there.

I'm sure that some do, but an awful lot of them work there. Since this guy was there long enough to lease a Ferrari, I'm guessing that he was blowing his expat salary on that while living for free on the company dime.

I'm surpised nobody wrote 'I wish my camel was this dirty' in the dust yet.

2012-04-25 04:54:38 PM
Wait, you can lease an Enzo? I thought to even be considered to own one you had to have multiple Ferraris and get the blessing of the company?

If I were in the same situation, guarding that car, I'd say "Hey, this would be a lot more likely to be safe and kept in good condition if it were kept under cover . . . like say, my garage. I'll make sure to fire it up once a week to keep the engine running and will look at it longingly every night."

vs. leaving it to be melted by the desert sun and sand blasted daily.

I believe someone else wrecked another one but the number is still 398 because the Pope owns the 400th
