I voted for Obama in '08, largely because of his statements on the Drug War in general and the Marijuana War specifically. I thought "Finally! A candidate who is actually sane."
Then came his refusal to reschedule marijuana last summer and his ensuing DEA thuggery against medical marijuana dispensaries and patients in California, Washington, and Colorado.
Fool me once...
I'm voting Gary Johnson this time around. People say it's a wasted vote, but voting for more of the same is the real waste.

groppet: gilgigamesh: Cute picture, but come on.

Unless by "wandered" you mean "orchestrated a carefully staged photo-op as part of a vast propaganda effort to bolster the president's badly sagging support in the 18-24 year old demographic," you are being pretty gullible, Subs.

Yeah I dont think the Secret Service lets the president "wander" anywhere, without searhing the place top to bottom.

Ive seen that place on Diners, Drive ins & Dives. Looks like prety decent food for a college crowd

Actually you'll be surprised! yes the SS are good at what they do but they also have common sense and use it fairly regularly. If Obama decides to abruptly stop at some place, they'll probably weigh the risk and probably can conclude with a degree of certainty that there isn;t just by pure coincidence that an assassin or terrorist is there hoping by the 1/100000000 chance he drops in unannounced at the same time.
In this case the goes with him and do their normal security detail and escort.

I do not believe this was orchestrated as in hand picked prior to him arriving etc. I think this was pretty impromptu.

hdhale: I had the pleasure of living under the Reagan administration for 8 years. Was every decision he made perfect? Hell no. But everyone who didn't need constipation medication felt better about the country and the direction it was going because of Ronald Reagan. You can't say that about the Chicago politician. He needs to go home.

I voted for Reagan twice when I was a college student (undergrad & grad). I completely regret it. His deeply flawed policies widened the gap between the rich and the poor (huge tax cuts for the rich, but not for everyone else), wasted billions of dollars propping up Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, and nearly tripled the U.S. deficit.

Of course, we didn't have the Internet back then, and the truth about what Reagan did to screw this country over didn't start to come out until late in his second term (Iran-Contra, anyone? How about Nancy Reagan and her astrologers?).

I left the Republican Party in 1992 and will never, EVER vote for any GOP member again for the rest of my life.

So the President walks into a bar... and he meets Madalyn Starkey, a University of Colorado student who will forever be known as the girl who posed for the greatest photo ever taken of a sitting president.

Obama doesn't have to be as popular as he was in 2008. hell, he doesn't ever have to get as many votes as he did in 2008. all he has to do it get more votes than Romney. according to RCP, they have the election at 227 - 170 with 11 states (a total of 141 electoral votes up for grabs)

I don't see how Romney gets 100 of those remaining votes.

make up your mind, jeez!

btw, remind me what else he is today:

is he a socialist/communist or a tool of wall street?
is he a muslim or a radical black christian?
is he a silver tongued devil or a teleprompter-addicted mushmouth?

Wow, repubs are just so sore that Obama is actually a charismatic guy while they're stuck with Romney. This was not "staged". Staged would indicate that it was somehow a setup, that the people there had advance knowledge he was coming and their reactions are fake, maybe they aren't even real customers, etc. This is not the case. Some people were hanging out at a local restaurant when the POTUS walked in unannounced, shook some hands, posed for a few pictures, maybe even tried the fries, then left. Whether they planned to stop there ahead of time is irrelevant, the customers didn't know he was coming, that's what's important. Pretty damn cool if you ask me. And I've actually been to that restaurant a few times.

Having gone to CU and eaten at The Sink numerous times, the most amusing part of this story is knowing that our President had horrible swamp-ass Sink farts last night. I don't know what it is about that place, but holy stinkbutt, Batman.

Is this kind of like how all the "Real 'Mericans™" voted Bush into office because he was a good ol' boy you'd like to have a beer with, upon which he promptly gave a massive tax cut to the rich, drug us into an unnecessary war and oversaw the implosion of the economy?
