demonbug: AllUpInYa: Probably sucked if you were under-age and hoping to get served that night.

On the plus side, I'm sure the local prostitutes made a killing with all those SS guys running around.

Damn you!

Magorn: ManRay: I'm not a fan of the President at all, but if he "wandered" into my regular bar (even if it is a photo op) I would think that is cool enough to want to get a picture with him. I can't say I would kiss his ass, but I would be respectful.

If I was President I would do this all the time. I like to see the office treated as little like a king or someone else untouchable as much as possible.

I'm old enough to still be upset that you can't drive past the front gate of the White House on PA avenue like you could when I was a kid. Back then my dad taught me that this was one of the things that made our country great: That the WH, and the Halls of Congress were open to regular people to walk into and observe whenver they wanted, that our government wasn't keep away from the people behind high walls and fences.

*sigh*

This. The White House was considered "The People's House". People used to be able to roam the grounds (1800s). There weren't even any guards originally. There was one armed doorman and he went home at night.

Profedius: Barbecue Bob: Profedius: Wow you Obama lovers are really stupid about how things work. This was a stage event the president doesn't just wander around anywhere this was planned well in advance and the secret service was there hours if not the day before preparing. Obama is having trouble with the younger vote, because he is not as popular with them as he was in 2007. This isn't about Mitt getting the younger vote as much as it is about getting the younger people to vote, because they tend to go with the liberal candidate. Maybe if people would stop believing what they are told as fact and take the time to do a little research they would stop voting for complete failures with the wrong ideas like Obama.

How dare Oblacka encourage young people to vote!!!
They should stay ignorant like the old people of today were when they were young!!
How dare Obamajammafarto encourage critical thinking and education!!

Of course it's planned. Who cares why he did it asshat? He did it and that's a cool thing.

I hate all politicians... but I think I hate republicans and their followers the most. People like you for example.

I am independent. It kind of proves my point about people not taking the time to look into matters before they assume. Just because I know Obama's ideas are wrong people assume I am a republican or believe their ideas are right. We also see that because I said young people tend to vote for the liberal candidate that an assumption was made that I think young people shouldn't vote. There is also a matter of misguided attack post but not against what I am saying, but instead directed at me which is most often the tactic of the weak minded.

It is important to know that the event was staged even though I agree it was pretty cool, because taking things at face value is what gets us all into trouble which was my whole point. When people just read the news or hear the news and take it as fact without looking at the big picture then take that to the polls we end up with ...

Ooh, look! A Fark Independent™.

Unless by "wandered" you mean "orchestrated a carefully staged photo-op as part of a vast propaganda effort to bolster the president's badly sagging support in the 18-24 year old demographic," you are being pretty gullible, Subs.

Citation? This guy seems to be one of the most popular presidents with college students from what I have seen/heard.

Yeah, he's full of shiat. I'm 23, and I can tell you that exactly no one my age likes Romney. They don't all support Obama necessarily, but kids tend to vote for the cool guy, and Obama just radiates COOL. Especially compared to Romney, who is possibly the least cool person in politics.

Yeah, I know one guy my age (22) who's voting for Romney, and he's a total square who wears a sweater vest and a tie every day. Frankly I'm surprised he's not voting for Santorum, because he seems to be Rick Santorum from 1980.

This picture is awesome. What a lucky girl.

Of course, this is a college bar and college loan rates are about to double, largely because that's how they pay for Obamacare.

Then there's the fact that Obama pledged to cut the deficit in half in his first term and has grown the debt more than even the Goofus who came before him. But that won't matter in the end.

There's also the massive loss in civil liberty under Obama, including the NDAA, assassination of Americans, protesting is now a federal crime, and the TSA gropes you at the airport and soon on buses. That doesn't matter though because Obama is freaking awesome.

I swear, this Adonis has super powers.

Well, I guess that there's also the quantitative easing principles, ungodly low interest rates, and other policies that will someday result in massive inflation. But hey, all my friends think Obama is like the MAN!!!

I don't really care that Guantanamo Bay is still open and rendition is still in use, the chicks love this guy. Who cares about Egypt, Libya, or what will happen in Syria or Iran. If Obama does it, it's guaranteed awesome.

Just to give the mouth breathing liberturds on Fark a little idea about how spontaneous and impromptu all this is and not just another orchestrated photo op artificially created just for the internet enter the exact phrase:

So the President walks into a bar... and he meets Madalyn Starkey, a University of Colorado student who will forever be known as the girl who posed for the greatest photo ever taken of a sitting president.

It appears in its entirety no fewer than 70 times, up from 58 when I started writing this post, according to Google so all the liberturd sites just copied and pasted the same prefab press release kit with picture and twitter into their own pages and made it look like it was breaking news instead. None of the sites gave any attribution for the quote just like lapdogs never do when they're churning out press releases as primary articles. Although Instamaticing the picture was a nice touch as it probably impressed even more hipster douchebags than it would have otherwise. The manufacturing of the press release and coordinated publication should be a bigger story than Dan Rather trying to smear Bush using Microsoft Word . Nobody even bothered to put in one more or less dot in the middle of the line

Maybe it has something to do with his stances on marijuana and gay marriage....

Yeeah, no, actually, the pot-addled liberalite college student who only cares about social issues from his ivory tower is a charming caricature and all, but come on. Everyone else in the field is slashing Pell grants, couldn't give two shiats about student loan debt, and seems genuinely unconcerned - if not gleeful - that graduates with no experience have to compete with laid-off industry lifers for a nonexistent number of entry level jobs.

This is not to say that responding to social issues like a human being doesn't hurt, but it'd be nice if you at least entertained the thought that the 18-25 demographic actually is politically aware, and not just voting for Obama's slick moves and winning smile.

He is, and it's a very politically-aware generation.

Which is why so many GOP-controlled legislatures have instituted voting "reform" measures that are aimed at suppressing the ability of the younger demographic to get out and vote.

The GOP knows it can't win an honest election, so you have to give the party credit for being aware of the fact, and acting accordingly.

Enjoy your drink and your bimbos Mr. President!

And? Enlighten us.

And maybe the Commander in Chief can avoid putting himself in frivolous idiotic positions in dive bars covered with graffiti that cater to Children?

Just a thought.

You are an idiot. goodbye. I've tolerated your dumbass for long enough.

I thought they do occasionally have unannounced stops. They plan out places and the SS just drops in. I recall people in Maine saying that when Bush (jr & sr) would go up to the family estate for vacation, agents in plain clothes would say be in an Ice cream shop, Then he'd come in with his crew like it was no big deal.

I'm not sure if it's still the case today, but when I was in College 8 years ago, the Pro GOP club way way more organized and visible on campus, and pro democrat or liberal clubs were almost non-existent. The College Republican group is well funded and organized, I don't think there's anything even close to an equivalent organization for Democrats.

StanTheMan: And thaaaat's how you end up with an empty suit like Obama as president, stupid farks like yourself voting for a guy to run the free world based on how "cool" he is. Dumb bunnies.

Which is why the College Republicans amassed a huge ground campaign and swung Queen Palin into office.

I love how the Secret Service just assumes we're ALL slavering barbarians and confiscates all the silverwear because they can't trust us not to slay the POTUS with butterknives and forks. We're uncontrollable, I tells ya!

/if they told me I couldn't have silverwear 'cause the Prez is coming I'd just leave. I really, really hate being treated like a peasant...

Seeing how giddy the folks in this thread get over the sight of Obama in a bar reminds me of same reaction of teenie boppers over the sight of Justin Bieber. Awesome I say... just awesome.
