youfoundthekingbaby: either way, i can see why they would not want to talk much about being opposed to changes in the law, because it can be spun so easily.

That's a huge problem right there. Anything can be spun, and spun hard these days. Reduce spending? "Austerity!" Equitable and fair tax code? "Class warfare!" Encourage college? "Snobbery!" Withdraw from Iraq? "Cut an run!"

And as you said, because you don't want to put something out there than be spun and used against you, people shy away. But if everything is spun, no matter how big or small or significant or otherwise, what issues or problems get addressed?

We get toothless, useless, unenforceable legislation like the Do Not Call list and controlling the volume on TV ads.

We've allowed the whole environment to be poisoned. And it's killing the country.

It's weird. I dated a girl (survivor of rape-rape) who would sob when the sex was really good. I asked her about it; she replied "I never expected to get good sex after what happened." which was a bit of an O.o -< O.O moment for me.

Then she told me she could channel it into laughter. A much less off-putting reaction to sex.

// for most of us

Not the first time.. all of the Republican candidates for the job said they were against the minimum wage, and wanted to abolish it, but when asked, none of them knew what the current minimum wage was.

I'm not a real fan of McCaskill, she's pretty much a blue dog, but the people running against her seem proud of their ignorance.. and at least one boasted, without irony, of being a Job Creator.

Roy Blunt( guy standing next to her) ran a very dirty GOP primary race in 1992 which gave the general election to Mel Carnahan. Mel died late second term campaigning for US senate. One odd little fact MO governors are not allowed to drive must be driven by the Highway Patrol. However sons flying them is
Ok.

Yep. All my experiences with it have been after zomgasm. Don't know if all had been victims of rape-rape (some had), but certainly not by me.

Yeah I've started to see those commercials too for governor as well (I think it was the one for the Germx guy) and my first thought is "Oh goody, let's vote for someone who would sell off the state piece by piece" because that's apparently the only thing governors with business experience know how to do.

hubiestubert: Ideology before competence I guess...

CLEARLY this woman was selected to run against Claire McKaskill Solely because of her poltical acumen and ability and NOTHING ELSE

What I really love about this story is the exchange goes like this

"What's your stance on Renewing the VAWA"
"I have no farking clue what that is"
"Really?"
"Yes, really"

and in a matter of hours her handlers are saying with a straight face "of course she knows what this bill is and she's very upset at the Democrats who are playing politics with the bill ,and is in favor of the clearly superior Republican version"

As if they expect us to swallow that she's done a detailed legislative analysis of a bill she admitted with her own mouth knowing NOTHING about

Marcus Aurelius: Senate Republicans are objecting to re-upping the 1994 law, which has already been extended several times, because of amendments that would extend protections for Native American women, gay victims, and others

This is clearly an outrage. Violence against gay people is why we invented Apple pie and freedom.

Well let's be fair, can you really call gay women "women" at all? After all, you now many of , them are adept at handling power tools or playing sports, and are fond of wearing unattrative hair styles and no makeup! In fact there are some of these "women" who, at least if you can believe some of the rumors couldn't tell the difference between a cotillion and spring formal!

And native american Women! Really? IF they are being abused, why don't those Custer-killers go back to the country they came from?!

I was recently arguing about gay marriage and homosexuals in the military with a perennial Mayoral candidate here in my little town... One of these Ron Paul Teabagger types.

He was going on and on about how homosexuals are not legally discriminated against in this country. So I pointed out the DOMA language pertaining to what is considered a "marriage".

He had no idea what the DOMA was or what it did... Yet he was arguing that homosexuals aren't discriminated against through legislation. I was astounded by the ignorance on display by someone who wants to be the mayor of a small city.

This is one of the many reasons why I can't take these mental midgets seriously...

don't let reality interfere with you. Do you really think the Dems include illegals in this sort of thing out of compassion? I think you are naive.

"In 2005, the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that up to 3 percent of the 30,000 individuals called for jury duty from voter registration rolls over a two-year period in just one U.S. district court were not U.S. citizens. "

2012-04-25 04:52:59 PM
Why should knowing the law be a disqualification for the job?

Obama didn't have a single solitary clue what a Constitutional amendment was when he was asked about it and he is supposedly a Constitutional scholar or something.

Then again he also argued against the individual mandate as a candidate.

If you are going to quote heritage.org, you should at least link to it.

Meanwhile, here is a link to a rebuttal:
PDF

"Further, 3 of the 4 courts that did report non-citizens in their jury pools estimated that non-citizens comprised, respectively, approximately 1%, 0.158%, and 0.01% of the jury pool.7 Von Spakovsky, in his attempt to manufacture concern about a nonexistent crisis, simply ignores key elements of the GAO report that do not support his hypothesis that noncitizens threaten the integrity of U.S. elections."

killershark: quatchi: Missouri are reduced to running hapless trophy wives as Senate candidates in Missouri?

Yeah, that'll win then the lady vote back especially since she's so up on the issues/snark>

/Are they even trying?

To be fair, I don't know if it's a lady vote issue as much as it's a Missouri Republicans issue. Several years ago, they put Brock Olivo in a U.S. House primary as a Republican because he was a star running back for Mizzou ten years ago. He was a nice guy and good looking but dumber than a box of rocks. Apparently, the state Republicans think good looks are all you need to become a politician.

This election cycle it is.

The GOP have lost every demographic but the white vote and especially the male white vote.

That's why they picked Ms Bigtits McWhatisVAWA instead of Easily Pliable Fading Football Hero w. good looks this time around.

They think GOP guys will vote for her cos they want to teach her the Tibetan Wheelbarrow (Kama Sutra pg. 169) and women will, of course, vote for her because she's got a vayjayjay just like them.
