When you've reached the point where your entire campaign hangs on the results of Delaware, you might as well hang it up. I hope gnutes donors like funding the book tour.

Donors? How about us? He's entitled to public financing and he's got Secret Service coverage. WE are now paying for his "campaign".

And zero criticism from conservatives.

I guess he's one of those babies that craves attention. It doesn't matter if it's good or bad attention, as long as people are looking at him.

I'm pretty sure this is false. Only Mitt has it

Newt's campaign is more than $4 million in debt and the person who benefits from Newt leaving the race is incredibly loaded. It doesn't an Einstein to figure out why Newt is hanging in there.

2012-04-25 10:38:28 AM
The longer he stays in, the more $$ later.

It's not. Taxpayers are still footing the bills. Romney still has not officially won the Primary. Newt is still potentially the next Presidential candidate, technically.

2012-04-25 10:42:08 AM
So what can Newt do with the few delegates he has that can turn the convention into a real ha-ha fest?

Gingrich's security detail costs tax payers $38,000 per day, according to a right-wing debt-activist NPR interviewed yesterday.

Newt was already caught just buying his own books with the campaign financing. There was a Fark thread on this about 6 months ago I think.

Who needs a book tour. He can literally use all the money to buy his books.

If the Tea Party had stuck to their financial small government principles like they did for at least the first 72 hours of their grassroots Dick Armey-backed movement, they would be taking their guns, bitterness and religion out on Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney quail hunting-style.

I dunno, but if I were him, I'd look to the recent Secret Service scandal for some ideas.

"He's the boss who could wake up tomorrow and decide it's all over,"

It never really began so regardless of when he officially "suspends his campaign" (ie. keeps hustling donors to help pay off his bills) it's over.

He did his bit for the GOP-E already by dividing up the Anybody But Romney vote enduring Romney's success over Santorum.

The fact that he did it while pretending to be Mitt;'s biggest enemy was pretty lulzy stuff.

Driving up 95, there is sign that says "Welcome to Delaware." No picture, plain white text (complete with the period) on a plain blue background...I almost think that's a tongue-in-cheek, self-deprecating kind of sign.

// and the speed limit drops 10mi/hr between MD and DE
// damn revenue collection

It is an IQ test for non-big rigs. I.e., if you are in a sedan and pay the $4, you failed the test. (There are at least 3 ways to go around the toll while losing maybe 3 or 4 min).

If the illegal Kenyan gets reelected and declares Martial law, for the next 4 years, who will be in the position to stop him? He already said he will bypass the other branches of government.

Yes he is still getting Secret Service protection. NPR had a thing on it yesterday, the Tea Party are calling on him to give up the SS because it's costing tax payers an estimated 38,000 a day to watch over the prick.

YAY! They should be spending that money on Joe Arpaio's Team America Kenya Police Task Force for Dealing with the Obummer-in-Chief™!

I was perusing a Tea Party forum topic on the subject of Gingrich last week, and a number of people posting there stated that they had just donated to his campaign, some for a second or third time.

I attempted to give them sound financial advice regarding that, but was rebuffed.

This is exactly like corporate layoffs. Day 1: Of course we have no plans to lay anybody off. Day 2: Of course we have no plans to lay anybody off. Day 3: Of course we have no plans to lay anybody you have five minutes to clear out your desk.

"Of course I'm not suspending my cam--I've decided I want to spend more time with my family by which I mean my freakish vampire robot wife from outer space."

Paul should back out as well. Unless he is running as third party, but I don't think he has a chance either way.

Because Paul is obviously completely insane and Newt is just a scumbag? Just a guess.

I really wasn't trying to be mean or partisan. I don't think those things even apply when comes to Gingrich. He's just a self-absorbed asshole and a user. A user on a grand scale.

Paul isn't accepting assistance or security so he can stay in as long as he wants as far as I'm concerned. I don't get why he would, but whatever.

GAT_00: Why is Gingrich getting all the hate for staying in, yet Paul isn't?

Because Paul is in it as a statement to challenge the party leadership, while Newt is in it to try to garner as much cash as possible.

Neither expect to win, but Newt is just in it for the money at this point. Paul, for all his craziness at least believes in something...

Newt generates hate like the sun generates heat and light. It is the very essences of his existence in the universe.

GAT_00: Why is Gingrich getting all the hate for staying in, yet Paul isn't?

Because Paul is secretly amassing delegates to contest Romney at the convention.
