We have already devised an alternate source of lubrication for the MittBot should oil become scarce.

The GOP is no longer in existance. It is the CPA - Corporatist Party of America.

- They bust unions in the north
- Killing women's working rights/abortions
- Tax cuts for the wealthy
- Tax cuts for the wealthy
- Deregulation
- Ending the EPA

If you're not a rich person or a big business leader, and you vote republican, YOU ARE VOTING AGAINST YOUR OWN SELF INTERESTS.

Romney has been surrounding himself with the same neocon foreign policy advisers that convinced Bush to start the wars, and will probably convince Romney to start more if he is elected.

Americans need to know this. This is probably the biggest policy difference between Romney and Obama, yet it's getting almost no press.

Good thing the Republicans took a heroic stand against the transcontinental Big Environmental-backed pipeline a while back, we would have had some virgin forests cutting right through our exurbs and strip malls.

If Big Environment hadn't stuck its nose in where it didn't belong, we finally would've gotten rid of the scourge of all those salmon clogging up the rivers in the Northwest. Then we could have used those rivers for their real purpose, as drains for industrial byproducts that would never ever cause any health problems to any person anywhere.

I remember. I can't believe a Democrat apologized to Big Enviro afterwards, too. And all that clean water ending up on our Southern shores makes me want to go to the beach. It sickens me.

Just to be pedantic, a lot bunch of fresh water spilling into the ocean (especially if, say, on top of a major current) *Would* probably be bad. The salinity difference would fark up a lot of ocean life, and could cause weird current disturbances, I think?

Think again. A lot of climatologists believe it would stall the thermohaline circulation (the so-called oceanic conveyor belt), the best-known of which is the Gulf Stream. This conveyor belt is what drives ocean currents and, ultimately, creates our global climate. A big dump of fresh water on top of the ocean is one reason serious climatologists are worried about "global warming."

I don't believe dumping a lot of fresh water in Alabama and Mississippi would affect the Gulf Stream too much.

Yes, because wanting clean air, water and soil for future generations is exactly the same thing as rolling over to service Big Oil's desire to drill everywhere now without considering environmental concerns.

I should have been clearer: It wouldn't damage the ocean as a whole, but it would damage the local area. Same reason oil can be harmful (even though the ammount of oil is miniscule compared to the ammount of water in the ocean.)
