I'd be bummed if he didn't make another Gorillaz album.

I can't explain why, but this track, made when they were still kids, just kicks all sorts of ass

LOVE! Forgot all about that one.

The Pulp song from that soundtrack is terrific, too. Love me some 90s Britpop.

So much this.

WHOO HOO!

*proceeds to mumble the rest of the song, except for the occasional "whoo hoos"*

I'm bummed that "DoYaThing" was just a one off promotional thing and not a track from an upcoming album. Demon Days is on my no particular order top five albums and I really like their other albums as well.

You know, I agree with that, but I was disappointed enough with Plastic Beach that I'm not as optimistic about any upcoming stuff.

Did anyone get The Fall? Was it any good?

I'll be the same way if they or if they don't by going "meh".

I wasn't crazy about The Fall, but it's mad stripped down, and shows it. For what it's worth, I still love Plastic Beach, and I'm hoping the next time the Gorillaz crew comes out with something, they do a couple of songs with Little Dragon.

I'm also one of the few who loves DoYaThing, but I love me some Andre 3000, so I may just be biased.

//that said, the hell is with that 13-minute version
//I love some 'Dre, but 9 minutes of "I am the shiat"? Really?

Best thing about the DoYaThing clip was it reminded me that 5/4 was an awesome song.

Same here. I may need to revisit it at some point.

I lucked out and scored tickets from some co-workers to see them live in SF about 15 years ago. Good times. Except for the fact that the opening band was Smashmouth.

That's how all the Gorillaz albums have been with me. First few listens - meh. Any listens after that - awesome sauce. The exceptions to that rule have been the interim remix [letter]-sides albums and The Fall. Those are usually 10 tracks of same-same remixes and 2 or 3 awesome tracks.

Agreed. I really loved the live version of Hong Kong they did at their Demon Days tour, but the studio version on D-Sides was just meh.

However, the 19-2000 Soulchild Remix on G-Sides was far better than the original 19-2000 from the album.

I remember that gig. I remember not scoring tickets. Great American Music Hall. You lucky bastard.

Huh, I love Plastic Beach. I think it's a great, complete album with an interesting theme while also having good individual songs. I thought Snoop and Mos Def were a little underutilized in their appearances, but those are minor complaints.

On the whole I like Plastic Beach, but it also has some of the weakest offerings from Gorillaz in my opinion. Sweepstakes is just irritating to me

Yeah, I think that's a bit more accurate way of describing my feelings about it. It had some high points, but overall it felt like it was bloated with cameos and guest appearances, and half the songs were struggling to develop into something good, but ended up collapsing under their own weight right before they attained their potential.
