Dark Souls has been the equivalent of voluntarily getting kicked in the nuts every time I play it.

2012-04-25 09:45:39 AM
I bought the crappy Sega 32X solely for the Star Wars game and was pretty frickin' upset I couldn't get past the second level of Tie-Fighters no matter how long I played.

And Puzzle Quest? Odd choice but yeah I played that game for months and never did beat the final boss. Game cheats.

For some reason my FireFox doesn't like that slideshow's javascript. Maybe ABP is getting in the way.

Meh the thing that pisses me off about MW3 is that some guy with a 400ms ping has the advantage over someone pinging 40ms. Players even set their networks up to lag so the built in "lag compensation" in mw3 makes them impossible to hit or get the drop on.

I finished this game purely out of principle(sadly I paid money for it). Even the most basic "Go here and beat up this guy" mission was maddeningly frustrating and usually had to be done several times over.

I cant believe you beat that game. that thing had about 20 minutes of play time before I took it out, was expecting something like GTA and it was NOT something like GTA.

They had some good ones on there but they missed a few;

Farcry 2

Awesome idea, great graphics, really cool environments, absolutely ruined by packs and insane enemies who, despite being militia in some 3rd world African nation seem to be equipped with man portable radar and surveillance gear. They put a lot of work into creating a great environment then filled it with enemies who make it impossible to move around for more than 3 seconds without being in a desperate firefight and having to repair your damn jeep again. This one angers me more than any other because it's so close to being good and so far away at the same time.

How about the original Ninja Gaiden?

Marble Madness has made me throw an NES controller many many times

Fallout New Vegas - Oh awesome I'm got a really good character now, wait why is the old lady from the junkyard floating over the desert, and why are her dogs attacking me...oh great so this save file is glitched guess I had better start a new one...

Civ 4 - oh awesome the enemy spearmen just defeated my advanced bombers....

While I agree, the open play mode was fairly amusing for a while.

TFA: Even though we managed to finally beat them and the game, we chalk it up to dumb luck over our own skills, and that's never a good feeling.

Game designers should have this tattooed on their bodies.

My friend tore a playstation controller in half playing that game.

There's a lot of truth here. I could possibly live with it if the guard posts and checkpoints didn't respawn all their baddies a couple of seconds after you leave them out of sight. It's really obnoxious to clear out a checkpoint, go down the road a bit to complete a mission, go to drive back to town, and already the checkpoint is fully manned with people machine-gunning at you with sniper accuracy.

It should have been a pretty good game, but they blew it. It's acceptably playable in small doses, but that's about it.

I must be the only person that couldn't beat Metal Gear Solid on extreme. I never see them on a hardest game list....but goddamn if those guards didn't alert to every stupid f*cking noise even if you swear you didn't make it.

True, it was good for stress relief. Particularly the stress of being killed by offscreen gunfire for the fiftieth straight time because there's no camera reset button and those stupid cops keep spawning behind giant crowds of people so even if you aim in the right direction you probably wont hit them and then a suicide bomber runs around the corner and kills you so you have to spend ten minutes setting up a barricade with benches and trash cans only to have another one spawn on the other side right before the dude with the minigun shows up and for some reason the local gang is suddenly pissed off at you and now you have to fight a pack of them off while dodging a hail of bullets and, well it just keeps going like that.

What was wrong with Mirror's Edge? That game was frakkin' awesome. Not perfect, but it's main flaw to me was that it was too short and didn't properly introduce you to the world before throwing you into the main story of the game. They should have had a few missions where you actually act as a courier and deliver some packages while dodging the authorites before you get into the main plot.

But otherwise, it was really frakkin' nice to play a First Person game where YOU ACTUALLY HAVE LEGS! (and a torso) I get pretty sick of playing characters that are only floating arms and guns. Granted, it was part of the main point of the game, but Mirror's Edge did a better job of making an FPS character feel like a body moving through the world than any other FPS I've ever played.

IMHO.

I think it's supposed to be rage induced by difficulty, not suck

2012-04-25 10:07:18 AM
X-wing or TIE Fighter, if you wanted to achieve all objectives. FUUUUUUUU, shipping container just made the jump to hyperspace before you identified it, due to your wingmen unable to handle one TIE or Y-wing and you had to go race to save a shuttle or some crap.

Lol, how many times I succeeded at primary objectives only to get hosed on the last bit during mopup.

I've been playing it again because Farcray 3 is coming out this year and I really think they were embarrassed about how small their world actually is so they compensate by making every trip seem like a goddamned marathon.

MGS: Sons of Liberty.

Not difficulty rage but rather you have to play the worst character ever in Raiden and the payoff? One of the worst endings ever in the history of everything.

Battle Toads is the popular title when it comes to the hardest game ever made. People that say that are not part of the few of us that had to suffer through Silver Surfer game on NES. This is by far the hardest game that I've ever run across.

Dark Souls is a great challenging modern day game. For those of you that want even harder challenge, try their predecessor King's Field: The Ancient City on PS2. I actually died in the first 5-10 seconds of that game.

I didn't play that game, but their complaints about it were that jumps are really unforgiving and snipers can headshot you from miles away.

Really? Dark Souls, Magic: The Gathering, and farking MW3 and MvC3 were "rage-inducing"?

Whoever came up with that list really just needs to give up video games as a hobby and try legos or something instead, because about half of their list isn't terribly complicated or difficult.

//Not that they're _bad_ games, I really liked Dark Souls... but no, they're not on a level with Castlevania games from the days before save-states, not yours.

Unreal Tournament.

2012-04-25 10:12:19 AM
If you played the first game of the series (Ghosts'n Goblins), the surprise "ending" of Super Ghouls'n Ghosts wasn't so much rage inducing as much as it was "Not this shiat again". Now, when they pulled that trick in the first game, I went full on Hulk and nearly broke my C-64 in my frustration.

List is also missing Wizardry IV: The Return of Werdna

2012-04-25 10:13:20 AM
Thrilled to see Puzzle Quest on there. I absolutely detest games that the AI has to "cheat" at just to beat you once you get good. Oh, you needed that one piece of that one color to complete a one-shot-kill combo? Well, it just so happens that that's the "random" piece that just dropped!

Every. Single. Time.

I have it on DS and will occasionally dig it out of the case when I'm sitting in an airport, and after 5 minutes I'm putting it back away, recalling why I never play it anymore.

Far that farking game. Nothing more frustrating than driving around for an hour only to be gunned down by a roving gang of militia men that respawned a second after leaving the area. I gave up on the game.

Also, the first Mass Effect. My mistake was playing Mass Effect 2 and 3 first. The first Mass Effect seems archaic and the save points piss me off. I could be 3/4 through a mission, die, then have to start all over. I'm trying to enjoy it, but it's difficult
