WhyteRaven74: Little.Alex: "I agreed to this rate, and I won't pay more." And the law would be on your side, and you would know every detail of the agreement.

Know what the funny thing is? Nothing prevents schools from making arrangements with private lenders to offer up cheap loans to their own students. That they don't do that should tell you something about the schools.

I'm sure schools generally prefer the Government cash. Probably a lot more paperwork, but more money I'm sure and less judgemental. And the Government University Industrial Complex doesn't care how much the dumbass has to repay when he graduates.

Few lenders want to compete with government give-aways, but a few still do. Wells-Fargo and Chase for example. Back when I was in banking, we had a department that did student loans. It was a private business - and a lot better run than the current government fiasco.

Student lending went entirely private for about 2 years back around 1990. But universities hated it, because they wouldn't lend huge sums to finance useless majors. English Lit and Sociology majors were hit hard, whereas kids with good GPA and serious majors were set. So congress stuck it's nose back in, and started building the current disaster.

Back in my banking days; I was taught to never lend someone into bankruptcy. Never lend someone money they cannot repay, and don't lend for stupid things.
Request: "Hey, I want to borrow $10,000 for my dream vacation!!!"
Answer: "No."

You are either full of shiat or you have never read the fine print. Almost every private unsecured loan states the rate can be changed at the lender's discretion. "Rates and terms are subject to change without notice"

Normally, I would not be so crass about the idea of someone's death, but...

The day Rush Limbaugh greedily sucks in his last breath, I'm booking a celebratory weekend getaway with mr. teeny. We'll eat sushi, take in a broadway show, and have amazing sex multiple times a day.

I will send a postcard to my dittohead in-laws. Haven't yet decided what to write on it.

Of course Limbaugh is a pompous entertainer who hurts the nation more than helps... but...

Why is this inaccurate?
sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net

I mean, the session she was testifying for was for a congressional mandate on birth-control-without-co-pay. She was going to be testifying on the subject of government REQUIRING FREE CONTRACEPTIVES for any insured. So... how is that inaccurate? looks accurate to me. She's a woman who would be demanding free access to contraception, but at the same time likely demanding (rightfully) that the government not make decisions with regards to her womb.

As far as I am concerned, yes, she's a hypocrite. With freedom comes responsibility, not more nannying by the government. If you're not responsible enough to pay for contraceptives, well you deserve the result of your choices.

And if we vote for the Republican side, we'll have women and homosexuals stripped of their rights, Christianity forced into everything, and education will completely collapse.

Citation, please. Exactly how is any of that going to happen? More of those scare tactics. Libs have a million of them.

Listen to what the Republican delegates use for talking points. Look at Rush continuing to attack Fluke. Look at the states doing their damnedest to pass laws making gay marriage illegal.

I'm on neither side, so don't use your tired "libs" bullshiat on me. "IF YOU'RE NOT WITH US, THEN YOU'RE AGAINST US!" is a mentality that both sides need to stop using. How about we stop wringing our hands about what consenting adults do that hurts nobody, and focus on saving the country from economic disaster? You think both Reps and Dems can put aside their petty bullshiat and work together?

Ms. Fluke is not demanding that government pay for birth control or abortions. Government already does that to some degree. She is arguing that birth control should be covered by a private insurance policy. Which will cost taxpayers nothing but rather save tax money. I really don't see any reason why a conservative would be against this... other than the fact they hate sex.

No, it wont. Insurance and providers will just pass that cost off on everyone else. And in the case of Obamacare, taxpayers for the uninsured.

Me: Anything covered by insurance without a co-pay is still "covered by insurance". The government does not pick up the tab for any claims because there is zero co-pay. I (as well as you) don't know what you are talking about.

Big Man On Campus: Ablejack: Ms. Fluke is not demanding that government pay for birth control or abortions. Government already does that to some degree. BMOC: No, it wont. Insurance and providers will just pass that cost off on everyone else. And in the case of Obamacare, taxpayers for the uninsured.

Me again: What?! The main debated issue of an ObamaCare or RomneyCare system is that there is no "uninsured". It is precisely without ObamaCare that costs for the uninsured get passed off on the taxpayer. Furthermore, the entire insurance business model is that you pass off the cost to everyone else in that particular pool. And of course the insurance company takes their vig from that same pool too, which includes their total overhead, salaries and profits.

I am rather fond of whores/sluts. At least they don't care about what other people think. And why does anyone care what Fatty McBubbles has to say any more? He needs to go back to hocking designer ties and announcing baseball games.

Dude has seriously made enough money over the years, so why not just retire. Then he could make the occasional appearance during election years when news outlets need a soundbite from the 'fringe' perspective.

No she didn't. I'm a little surprised that I need to explain this to you, but here goes: Condoms are prophylactics used by men having sex. A condom fits over the penis as a barrier. A new one is meant to be worn with each usage. As a woman, Ms. Fluke has entirely different genitalia. She only argued that birth control pills have zero co-pay. Unlike condoms, birth control pill usage gives no indication of sexual activity or promiscuity. So, (easily enough) "You're a liar."

2012-04-24 11:22:04 PM
Again, I wonder why Sandra Fluke's father hasn't aired out this fat pig in the middle of a Dominican whorehouse.

Not condoning it, but. . .oh who the fark am I kidding.

2012-04-24 11:22:16 PM
three things that seem obvious yet have been missed in this thread-

1. Rush is a bully. He perceives that Sandra Fluke "got him in trouble" so now he must get his
revenge. It doesn't matter what she says or tweets about, Rush will attack it. That is his MO, has
been for decades. He gets butthurt and lashes out like a two year who missed their nap.

2. Sandra Fluke will parlay this into a very nice job and if she finds herself a nice liberal enclave to
settle into, she can get elected to any number of offices. She can probably do better for herself
than Joe the Plumber. Sandra the slut, no that is just inappropriate. She will have to come up
with her own catchy name- I cannot do it all for her. I am already paying for her sex and law
degree isn't that enough? I don't feel I should have to run her campaign as well.

3. Reading between the lines, Rush seems to be just one drug addled tick away from claiming
that this Fluke gal wants a government loan to be a slut. I think that free markets should take
care of this. I am sure that lots of people would give her a loan to attend law school and be
slutty. Personally I have put several women through college. I am not too proud to admit that
a few have not paid me back and a few were not nearly as decent looking as Sandra Fluke.
I think I see Rush's point- I have even heard that the number of four year degrees amongst
nubile, lithe, glistening Dominican boys has risen exponentially over the last decade or so.

What's ironic here is that what the health care bill is doing is enabling the free market to work with health insurance, something you think the GOP would be all for. With the current system its near impossible to compare one insurance plan to another because they all have very complicated payment and benefit structures. As an employer who's been in the unenviable position of having to pick an insurance provider for a company I can insure you the plan descriptions are designed to make it impossible to to a cost/benefit analysis.

The solution? Create defined insurance plans where the benefits to the customer are fixed, and then when you go to compare insurance company A to insurance company B you can actually see which one is offering a lower price. At some point the GOP equated free markets with the seller having all the power.

So, the base plan offering by a health insurance plan must cover birth control, which you'd think would be uncontreversial. Got a religious objection? No problem. All churches are exempt. Does your church run a large or small school or large or small hospital that caters to people of your faith? No problem, do whatever you want.

But, should that religion own a large business that hires primarily people of other faiths? Then they gotta stick with the national standards for other businesses.

Seems fair to me.

You are either full of shiat or you have never read the fine print. Almost every private unsecured loan states the rate can be changed at the lender's discretion. "Rates and terms are subject to change without notice"

That's a lie. And I can tell you've never taken out a loan - since you're quoting off of a credit card statement. Of course, open lines of credit are an ongoing obligation to both parties, so they can be renegotiated. But a promissory note cannot.
