skullkrusher: HeartBurnKid: skullkrusher: Urbn: skullkrusher: Urbn: bobbette: Entertaining this idea: maybe they actually DO hate her because she's healthy and they're just a bunch of fat losers, and by encouraging health and good eating habits, she reminds them that they're fat... ah... no. It's pretty much still because she's a smart, personable black woman with much higher social status, isn't it.

Oh well.

Maybe they've truly never seen a woman sweat before because every woman they know is a fat, gossipy hatemonger who sits on her ass all day whether at home, work or in a car. I personally like having a strong and healthy female role model like Michelle for my daughter to compare to the vapid dumbasses worshiped in the media.

I thought fat people sweat profusely at all times? Having a hard time keeping track of the caricatures.

Maybe they think a woman should only sweat while inhaling a faceful of fried food or thinking about how much one hates Fartbama?

TFA is claiming she's a camera whore and using the East Room as a workout room. Not so much about her sweating.

While you're right in general, it does invoke the imagery of "sweaty bodies sprawled all over the floor" in explaining just how this is a bad thing. You know, because nobody has ever sweated in the White House.

TFA: But it is not only the frequency of Michelle Obama's appearances that are unusual -- it is the manner in which she uses her position to diminish the respect for the White House itself. Appearing on "The Biggest Loser," Obama used the historic East Room of the White House to videotape an exercise segment with sweaty bodies sprawled all over the floor.

doesn't seem like they have a problem with sweating in the WH but rather using "the site of such events as the funeral of Abraham Lincoln, the signing of the Civil Rights Act, presidential press conferences, and presidential awards of military and civilian honors." for filming a reality show.

Then why bring up "sweaty bodies" at all?

Who cares, it's a stupid farking article

That I will agree with, but I see you defending stupid farking articles more and more around here. I get that you like to play devil's advocate and all, but occasionally, you can let people mock the derp without having to argue.

whatever you say, broseph. Sometimes the "derp" in mocking the "derp" is too "derpy" to ignore. It isn't hard to mock things honestly and humorously without purposefully mischaracterizing it.

What you actually do is go to such hilariously pedantic lengths to prove that people are "mischaracterizing" these kinds of articles that you of course get all kinds of angry responses, allowing you to say "well the article writer way over there on that side is so crazy, and all of the people criticizing the article way over on the other side are SO CRAZY, look at little old me in the middle, completely rational and right as always"

that pretty much sums it up. Keep fighting fire with fire while complaining about the fire in the first place. I'll keep pointing out how silly it looks to do so.

It isn't really very hard to "prove" that this article is not anti-sweat. It's really blatantly farking clear what stupid point the author is trying to make.

Sooo it's perfectly okay to call the First Lady nasty names for having a perfectly sensible campaign, especially since she's in good shape herself and the country has a weight problem..

But it's NOT okay to talk about Mrs Romney even though she constantly is injecting herself into the campaign?

/oh my head

maybe it'd be more illustrative if you could explain how the fark you could possibly construe that the author of TFA is trying to make an anti-exercise biatch or an anti-sweating biatch rather than the obvious?

Do you think the author's point remains unchanged if he had said "Obama used the White House gym to videotape an exercise segment with sweaty bodies sprawled all over the floor."

It would have to be if he was complaining about people sweating in the WH.

skullkrusher: It would have to be if he was complaining about people sweating in the WH.

Except where he literally wrote a sentence complaining about people sweating in the historic East Room. While sweat was not the overall point of the article, the author is clearly using the concept of sweating in the East Room as an attack on MO.

Yeah... I don't think this is one of those times. TFA was all about how Michelle was denigrating the White House and the office of President by doing something so pedestrian and disgustingly sweaty as holding an exercise session there. That is what people are mocking. I really don't see anybody distorting anything... except maybe you.

yes, exactly. Using the apparently "sacred" East Room as a workout room to film a TV show. What's worse, they were getting sweat everywhere! Isn't that gross especially for a room deserving of such reverence! Someone might have even spilled a sports drink on the rug!

That's the point of this stupid farking article. Not the fact that MO was sweating in the WH...

FTFC:

"Albertosaurus1

Well she certainly is mannish.

There is an Internet theory about all this that may be a complete load of garbage or may be one of those facts that neither side, left or right wants to reveal. It's very hard to know. With all the resources of the Internat available to anyone it's possible to do your own research rather than rely on the filter of a media newsroom. But then you run the risk of becoming a crank and finding that all your opinions are based on unsubstantiated rumors.

There is another example of this in the Trayvon Martin case. The left and the leftist media put forth the narrative that a white vigilante profiled and hunted down an innocent black child and then shot him in cold blood ("like a dog"). Not much of that turned out to be true as the less leftie press reported. But there were also Internet reports about Martin that never made it onto TV. Martin was alleged to have been a bad student, a burglar, a drug dealer, a bus driver assaulter, and a gang member. But none of those allegations have appeared on Fox News or Bill O'Reilly. Are we to take it then that the news pros have investigated those stories and have determined that they are all false or are they suppressing them for whatever reason. Are they acting as censors or are they merely being circumspect?

In the Obama case the Internet rumor is that Obama is a member of club of Chicago gays who was given cover by Jerimiah Wright and his church. They claim that the church acted as matchmakers for gay blacks. They would set them up with pseudo "wives"who would provide cover from the wrath of normal blacks. This sort of person is analogous to a man who provides a similar cover for hetrosexual men - a "beard".

Simon LeVay the greatest living expert on homosexuality and is himself gay writes in one of his many books about "Gaydar". Gaydar is real and some people possess it more reliably than others. Not me as it happens. I'm not particularly adept or sensitive about such things. But those who are or claim to be see Obama as gay.

He is rather prissy. He sings, he dances. He pouts. More to the point he seems more effeminate than his wife. She's pretty butch.

Hur.

I never realized just how many people chewed on lead paint chips, as a kid.
