Well, give the guy a little bit of credit.

At least he wasn't dumb enough to brag about it on Twitter.

/or Facebook, for that matter

Konias appeared in a Fort Lauderdale court this morning for his initial court appearance wearing a gray shirt, gray pants and appeared to be tired and sad.

Gee, the poor guy.

Wendell: You think this boy Moss has got any notion of the sorts of sons of biatches that're huntin' him?

Ed Tom Bell: I don't know, he ought to. He's seen the same things I've seen, and it's certainly made an impression on me.

Thank you for pointing that out.

After only finding a little over a million of the stolen money Florida police searched the residence again but still are baffled at where the mastermind criminal might have hid the rest of the cash...

They should have bought $100000 of crack with all that money. Then they could smoke the rest of their lives guilt free

including a service revolver which they believe Konias used to allegedly shoot Michael Haines.

Allegedly USED, not allegedly shoot.

"which they allege Konas used to shoot" is even preferable.

/annoyed

You need that kind of cash to buy all those stickley knock off pieces?

This jerk murdered his friend & coworker then stole millions of dollars in cash and THEN realized he had no getaway plan.

I'm actually laughing about his arrest though.

Imagine being busted in a crack den because the owners of the crack den called the cops because he was such a douche that they'd rather have their own home raided than put up with cracking out with him.

The book and movie are worth seeing again and again, just for Ed Tom's dialogue alone...

"There was this boy I sent to the 'lectric chair at Huntsville Hill here a while back. My arrest and my testimony. He killt a fourteen-year-old girl. Papers said it was a crime of passion but he told me there wasn't any passion to it. Told me that he'd been planning to kill somebody for about as long as he could remember. Said that if they turned him out he'd do it again. Said he knew he was going to hell. "Be there in about fifteen minutes".

There was also a sizable reward being offered for him.

But, as for the getaway, all of us here in Pittsburgh are surprised that it took this long to catch him. it was obvious from day 1 he had no plan, and it was expected that it would be wrapped up quickly. I think that his advantage was that he was so stupid that he didn't do anything the police expected a sane person to do.

This is inevitably how crooks get caught: not because of good police work, or CSI wizardry, but simply because they can't keep their farking mouths shut.

The whole thing says a lot about the guy. In a movie, he'd be played by Steve Buscemi's character in Fargo.

Spent. Spent is the word they're looking for. Probably gambled a ton of it away, did two chicks at the same time a lot of times, lots of drugs, etc.

If I stole that much Id sure as hell be anywhere else than the country I commited the crime. Plus the genius was caught with teh murder weapon! All the rivers, lakes, and swamps between Pittsburgh and Florida. He should have just gone to Mexico lived like a king. Eh he is a dumbass he would have been killed pissing off some local drug lords.

QFT. I have an old friend who was a detective in a major metro area for ages. He freely admits that most of his "clearances" were because "most criminals are unbelievably stupid."

/including the guy who broke into my house and passed out on the floor of the kitchen from the handful of pills he had taken earlier that night
//got eight years in PITA prison

I don't get why he killed the guy he worked with. Was that to make it look like a robbery? Well that doesn't work if you run. Almost two and a half mil and you smoke crack? Whitney Houston's ghost nods approvingly.

I was thinking this sounded like a bit in a Coen Brothers movie.

idiot told people who he was = huge $. surprised he wasn't killed on the spot.

I was using this idea as a thought experiment as in what would i do if i murdered someone to get $2 million and everyone knew i did. First thing I would have done was leave the country, second would be that I would tell NO ONE.

Idiot could have gotten away with it wasn't for blabbing off to everyone

Look...the guy was just peacefully stealing some money when he was confronted by an armed man who claimed to be some sort of guard. Clearly the robber was just "Standing his ground" and should be immune from prosecution for this so-called "murder".
