Nice.

Mahogany and Turquoise? Really? I suppose the mother's name is Azure with another sister named Fuschia and a brother named Cobalt.

2012-04-24 11:45:47 AM
They should have known she was giving a fake name. That chick clearly isn't turquoise.

I suppose I can understand someone giving the cops a fake name, but how dumb do you have to be to give them your sister's name? And how dumb do you have to be to give the cops your sister's name when your sister has a warrant out?

You've got to be incredibly, incredibly stupid. You'd have to be so stupid that you'd... oh...

I wonder what her login name is.

Well, I guess I'm showing my onion belt on this, but doesn't the whole tweet thing require you to follow someone before you see their tweets? Were the police following the seemingly delightful Mz Mahogany on Twitter? Or did someone else rat her out? Or does Big Brother monitor the twitterverse? Seems like there's more to this story than was written. Not surprising.

I am shocked that people with names like Mahogany and Turquoise are somewhat less than law-abiding.

I guess the cops kept it realer.

She wound up in the octothorpe?

Pearland resident here - works great for me... Close enough to Houston to get to work or events efficiently, yet well outside the smog dome & noise...

i'm a little confused why HPD had her warrant and she said it was in Pearland. Different city - not even in the same county... cheers

You don't have to officially follow someone, unless they have tweets set to private. But yeah.... the cops would have to know she was tweeting, and why would the cops give a fk about that, for a petty warrant? Somebody ratted her out.

/this is not the first time i'd heard of someone giving out a relative's info

Am I the only one to feel sorry for the sister? I mean, she now has a 'virtual' criminal record that will pop up whenever she is background checked, as her name being the alias of a known criminal will pop up.

If she's willing to lie to cops and give her sister's name, I'm sure she could have lied about which city the warrants were actually in while still holding some kind of half truth on Twitter... or it's just another prime example of a perfectly written and fact checked article.

Doh, reading comprehension fail per my Weeners. Know that I'm actually awake, you give a relative's name because a name that doesn't exist is easily found to be a fake, and giving a fake name to an officer is a felony(majorly annoying).

She probably didn't know that her sister had a warrant. Once she found that out, it was too late, she probably went along with the arrest as she figured that being processed as her sister was less trouble than revealing the lie and instead being arrested for giving a fake name.

By the sounds of it, both sisters are well experienced with the criminal system.

Remember the British tourists denied entry into the US because of twitter comments?

The US Department for Homeland Security picked up Mr Bryan's messages ahead of his holiday in Los Angeles.

You forgot the decent schools, too. Much rather have my kids in Pearland ISD than Houston ISD. (Yes, HISD has some amazing magnet schools, but also a lot of pretty awful schools...)

i'm a little confused why HPD had her warrant and she said it was in Pearland. Different city - not even in the same county... cheers

My thoughts exactly. If you have a warrant in Pearland you're toast--Pearland cops are mostly pretty bored. HPD cops, on the other hand, not so much...

OK, I get it that she's dumb to tweet this. But how does that easily lead to her apprehension? Tweets don't give your GPS location, do they?

Publicly boasting about evasion is a good way to catch the authorities' attention and give them added incentive to track you down.
