kiwimoogle84: Dead for Tax Reasons: I think this style is going to be the 'olde tymey wild west' photos of the future

'Let's all dress up like great great grammy would have back in the 1980's'

I have a picture of my mother from 1985 with the epic 80's fro hair, wearing a white dress with TEAL COW SPOTS. I laugh at it every time.

She loves to protest that she was hip back in the day. She was in a band and everything.

/you'll never catch me DEAD in a real cow spot dress

I'll see that and match you one voluminous green giraffe print dress, paired with my Flock of Seagulls bangs and side, braided rat tail. God help us, your mother is right - that stuff WAS considered hip back in 1986.

/no pics, though

...and when they're done jerking off to the models, they do something abut the lens.

Thank you!

/sorry if this is you

i can't look at this thread while anyone else is in the office, i make it too obvious with the snerting and outright laughing with tears in my eyes. i try to just smile on the right side of my face, away from everyone else, but it just makes it worse.

also - there is so much win in this thread, i felt only jean-luc could express it, then i saw this guy with the tear in his eye:

Wish I could find that one with the shirtless douche in artistic poses. I used to see it on Fark all the time and it was a classic. And GIS is bringing back disappointment. I'll be back. Gonna scour the interwebs for a minute.

How about "Merry Christmas".

About 3 yrs ago a friend of mine got a Christmas card which was pretty similar. Some member of their church sent them out. My friend was acquainted with him, but didn't really know him or his wife. They figured he must have mailed them out to the whole congregation.

AngryJailhouseFistfark: Smelly Pirate Hooker: What was more hilarious than these were the poster sizes old people had us make for them, which they then paid us (quite a lot) to airbrush (yes, actual airbrushing, this was slightly before Photoshop came along) their wrinkles out of.
Creepy. Old people with no wrinkles still look old, FYI.

What kind of tool has poster-sized pictures made of themselves?

This is the sort of thing that earned the 1980s the name "The 'Me' Decade".

The 70's were the "Me" decade, but not so much for AW as for introspection, "finding yourself", self-improvement, shiat like that.

We had a family photo taken in the 80s. Not a glamour shot exactly, but my Mom was so goddam intense about it that I knew it was something that was going to be displayed on the wall for the rest of our lives. It was THAT IMPORTANT.

I was well aware that most of my wardrobe was ridiculous and would not age well at all, so I opted to wear a nice conservative white dress shirt with a subtle black and blue pinstripe. Mom freaked. She had been told in no uncertain terms by the photographer that we were not to wear stripes, as it would screw up the photo and break the camera or something.

She forced me to wear the gayest shirt I owned - it was somehow more appropriate. So now for decades I've had the pleasure of gazing upon myself as a grumpy teenager with giant poofy 80s hair in a hideous purple paisley shirt.

Think so. Something involving shoes, I believe. Or it was your fetish. Can't remember. Remind me.

And I hear ya on the not working. I was working 7 days a week, 12-14 hours a day for 6 months in different states and the only downtime I had was jetting to airports. I've been off for a week now and I'm taking the month off. We need a boobies thread. :)

My google-fu must be weak today. This is the only thing I could find that hasn't been posted already and I couldn't find that photo I was talking about.
