People spending money on stuff is a good thing.

\I bet they're the type of people who love talking about their dog though

Is this a sign that the economy is improving or is it a sign of the apocalypse?

I postponed my wedding ceremony this year to spend an exorbitant amount on my dog.

/stupid biatch swallowed a chew toy.

sounds like they could afford it. It's just a party with a goofy theme. I don't see what's asinine. I have to admit I was expecting a story on a trailer park and someone forgoing community college so their dogs could marry. leaving slightly disappointed.

I know. Nothing is more grown up than saying bad words.

This story calls to mind a disturbing moment from my childhood. We had two dogs, a male and a female. When I was about 6, my younger brothers and I decided to marry them together. The disturbing part, looking back on it, was that the two dogs were siblings from the same litter. We were effectively endorsing incest.

Fortunately we didn't spend any money on that.

/weird story, bro

Gay dog weddings are ruining the institution of marriage!

It's Toodle Day but in real life!

I am much less bothered by this than I was by the parties on "My Super Sweet 16" -- at the very least the dogs appreciated the attention and affection shown them.

I was expecting to read the article and judge these people harshly based on the Asinine tag, but I left actually feeling like maybe it wasn't such a bad thing after all. The dogs' "parents" used the event to collect donations to the local animal shelter and they said that the event wound up snowballing, with more and more people asking to attend.

There's nothing bad about having a large group of like minded dog-people get together, letting their animals gather and play, and then collecting donations for the local animals who aren't so well off.

I just hope what they collected was more than they actually spent, but even if not, it was their money, and they spent it on what appears to be a community fundraising event where humans and animals alike were encouraged to let loose and have some fun together.

farking idiots...if they really cared about animals they would've donated that $5k to an animal shelter that could really use it...animals don't need a farking wedding...they are ANIMALS.

So much for the sanctity of marriage...

It will never last, and the owners will wind up spending three times that amount on the doggie divorce.

Why did I just know the dogs would be toy breeds without even clicking on the link?

Toy breeds or some sort of poo dog. (er, I mean "designer breed")

Are they serving steak at the wedding ?

2012-04-24 08:21:09 PM
So they threw a fun party, put $5k into the economy and raised money for a local animal shelter. What's the problem?

2012-04-24 11:16:26 PM
Yeah, man....
So I had this arranged marriage...
And my best man kept yanking my chain...
wife was in a mood. Kept snapping at the waiter...
The whole thing went to the dogs.

Know how I know you didn't RTFA?

On the flip side, I was once friends with a girl whose mother actually did this with her dogs. I don't think they spent that much in the ceremony, but I got to see the commemoration webpage. There's an entire community of lonely people out there who are into this. It's kinda sad, really.

Well, I can understand not wanting your dogs to be living in sin.

But if their dog humps my leg, is it adultery?
