Give him whatever drug they gave Gary Coleman and Webster.

I haven't really studied it but it seems like people travel all over these vast continents all the time, most of the time. That's not something you do in a week. I sort of assumed the series took place over several years. What's a "year" in Westeros anyway?

Good point, considering a summer can last for 7 years.

Man, the last episode makes you really crank up the hate too. When he picked up the bar with the stag horns on it, I cringed. Even phony violence on women makes me a little nauseous.

And can we please round up all the dipshiats sending Gleeson death threats into a room and explain to them how to seperate the actor from the character? Gleeson deserves a nomination this year (as does most of the cast) and it's just farking retarded he has to look over his shoulder cause there's people out there that think GoT is a documentary.

/ Sundays episode was the best one yet. The look of love on Robb's face while the girl was sawing off a foot was hilarious.

I don't want to punch Joffery.

I want to slowly boil him alive in a vat of oil starting at his toes and eventually reaching his eyeballs. But before that, I want to place him in a giant fire ant mound for a few hours after starving him close to death for weeks. And before that, I'd like to use 'the pear' on him repeatedly until his anus resembled ground beef.

Yeah, I don't like him very much.

I know I shouldn't be surprised - but this disturbs me to no end. Really? They sent the actor death threats for being really astoundingly good in his role?

The problem isn't the actors aging. The characters age in the books.

The actual problem is they started with actors that were already too old. And they had to - you can't have your 13-year-old actresses banging horse lords on screen.

I haven't read ahead in the books, but would it really be a problem to just say that the plot of the series takes place over 6-7 years? The show seems to move at such a slow pace anyway, I don't see how this would be that bad to do. Is there something which happens in book 5 or so which *requires* Arya or Bran to be prepubescent or something?

Please don't spoil specific things which happen in the books.

Yep. Was reading some article the other day about how Gleeson was getting death threats cause people hated Joffrey so much and were taking it out on him. They were saying that he needed body guards to go places now and was receiving hostile phone calls. It just boggles my mind how people really think Harrison Ford really is an archaeologists or Bruce Willis is really a detective or Jet Li really could take on a room of 70 soldiers with guns and knives using only his martial arts skills.

*sigh* Once again, your knee jerk judgments makes you misunderstand me again. Let me help you.

In movies, when there's violence in the back of my mind I know it's just a movie and the actor is O.K. and the gore is just special effects.. Therefore, the scene I am watching most of the time has no effect cause I know it's not real. If you had taken a second to think before you post for once, I was saying that even though I knew it was fake, it still made me uncomfortable. Keep on with that whole self appointed Fark moral police shtick you got going though. I'm sure Drew will make you an honorary deputy some day.

The women maiming one another is NOTHING compared with what happens to some other characters later. Male and female.

But the fact you are specifically made uncomfortable by violence against women as opposed to violence in general, like that knight who was almost executed by force feeding of wine, means you're sexist.

Personally, I got my cringing on pretty much every time the Lanisters, save Tyrion, made and appearance in the books. They's some nasty farkers.

Contrabulous Flabtraption: Too bad that actor wasn't around when George was casting Anakin.

The greatest actor in the universe could not make up for bad directing and script.

Haven't you ever seen one of those 'star studded' casted films that were basically awful due to directing/script? I have a theory about film quality: about 60% of the quality of a film is determined by the director, 20% by the script, and another 20% by the actors. I'm not factoring in all the other things such as costume and soundtrack, gosh darnit.

Yea, I'm aware of that. I've read all the way to AFFK and I haven't decided if I'm just going to stop here and wait for the show to catch up. Ordinarily, I would keep going but based on what I've heard people say about AFFK and ADWD, I might just wait and hope HBO fixes what people were complaining about. And judging from Martin's writing schedule, looks like I have plenty of time.

But the fact you are specifically made uncomfortable by violence against women as opposed to violence in general, like that knight who was almost executed by force feeding of wine, means you're sexist.

Eh, it makes me uncomfortable cause I grew up in a household where my dad and family beat their women and it was accepted. The cops never did anything (cause they knew how to do it without leaving obvious bruises or life threatening injuries) and it just brings up unresolved emotions. The violence doesn't bother me cause

a) as I said, in the back of my mind it is fake. It's also why I feel no tension in movies when a character is in peril cause a lot of times I know they won't kill them off cause of sequel possibilities.

b) I grew up with it and saw a lot when I did a year in TCDJ (it was for drugs and no I wasn't raped). I've seen a man disemboweled, an ear bitten off, a man beaten with a tuna can that caved in his face, and an arm sliced open. Seeing it in person and seeing it through a glass screen are two entirely different things.

Personally, I got my cringing on pretty much every time the Lanisters, save Tyrion, made and appearance in the books. They's some nasty farkers.

That the eventual fate of the one character that everyone wants to see skinned alive and fed to the goats wasn't nearly satisfying. A lot of people are going to be upset about that. It'd be like if Hitler was able to be sent to life in prison at Club Fed where he died peacefully in his sleep on a comfortable mattress.

Given how few of the children survive it isn't really a problem.

This is easy:

1. Audience has accept the actors are aging (just pretend it is due to the stress of war. Like how the President tends to age heavily due to the stress of the job).

2. Maybe some light CGI or the like to smooth out any heinous growth spurts or problems

I never thought of that rat burrowing thing. I don't think it's in the books either. Patrick Bateman would have been proud of that one.

Maisie Williams (Arya) - 15; I thought she was 12
Sophie Turner (Sansa) - 16; 'bout right
Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) - 19; you're kidding, looks like 14 or 15
Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran) - 12; 'bout right

i'm more uncomfortable seeing violence between vastly unequal parties than an even-ish match. If i watch 2 knights beating on each other, or a martial arts movie where one super warrior fights 10 guys it doesn't bother me like watching one adult man putting the hurt on a woman, or a child. That doesn't make me sexist, it just makes me fair.

If you look closely you can see some of this already in Season 1. They used a combination of pilot and new footage which was filmed almost a year apart. Sansa sprouted up like a foot between that.

What's killing me is all the Starks I liked are dead (aside from Jon Snow). Anything involving the North now is just "urgh" as I read it. With his next book I just want the ability to buy a copy that has the Tyrion and Jon Snow chapters in it (I know about the ending to the last one, but remember Fire Priestess) and forget the rest. Maybe Daenyrs as well.

I've been noticing that Arya's boobs are getting in the way. It's only apparent because she's pretending to be a boy and I keep wondering how they don't notice. I'm not saying this in a pervy way, but it breaks believability. I guess she hasn't fooled everyone though :P. Yah I know, have a seat over there.

Who?

There is the nice thing about GRR Martin killing everyone. By the last book, people who deserve it from a moral perspective are the ones dying, since they're the only ones left.

I'm ignoring the series after wading through Feast and realizing I didn't give a fark about any of the characters in it save Arya and possibly Jaime. I might pick it back up after A) GRRM finishes the series or B) GRRM pulls a Jordan and the series is ghostwritten to completion.

After a six year wait, the shiat sandwich that was Feast wasn't worth it. I'm fairly sure that the Social Security trust will run dry before the next book is published.

There's also a root cause in that GRRM doesn't have a solid grasp of time to begin with, starting with each season lasting "years". I'm not gonna beat him over the head for this mistake considering most popular writers have a thin grasp of science to begin with. If this is the biggest problem a show is dealing with I daresay there's a lot of good to be said about the original material (even if it's not my cup of tea). But in HBO's case, GRRM's oversight is really biting the show's ass because A) real-life time still ticks on for the actors, B) this epic is spectacularly long even by "epic" standards and C) his protagonists are young humans.

Tolkein was rather clever in LotR; I don't know if he anticipated this problem but every major player in his epic was a member of a race that ages slowly. Hobbits routinely live past 100 and they were the fastest aging members of the Fellowship. They also started out as adults. If you didn't read the timeline in the Appendix, the story could've taken place over one year or ten without any significant inconsistency issues.

See, I didn't have to wait six years between books, so I just read them all (that have been written) in a row, and it's no better or worse than any of the other ones. All the books are pretty similar in quality.

That's what happens when you wait six years for something though.
