:)

Just ribbing ya. The best parts of ACOK are now about to happen so the rest of the season will be epic. Personally, season 3 and 4 is going to be must see T.V. I really can't think of any part of reading ASOS where I was bored. It was kind of obvious in Sunday's episode that they have to pinch pennies when Robb charges into battle and it fades to black and then goes to the aftermath, At least they are doing The Battle of the Blackwater.

lol, yeah I swear to Sagan when she wouldn't show the dragons I thought EXACTLY that... CGI aint cheap, yo!

I haven't been at all bored with the series yet, just.... I'd think more supernatural/magic stuff would really put it over the top and since they keep hinting at it, and you know it exists in this world, I've been dying to see more magic shiat go down.

Glad to hear that it's actually coming! At Sunday's episode, when that very last scene happened I literally shouted "FINALLY!" But even if it just kept being a show about people getting stabbed I'd still watch it. I subscribed to HBO just for it, so I'm hoping they spend a few of my dollars on some CGI!

you are a puppet: Confabulat: The Thoroughbred of Sin: Since this is a thread about the SHOW and not the books, anyone posting about events past Episode 4 of the second season is seriously out of bounds. Have some respect for others who are either enjoying the show or perhaps a book or two behind you. Seriously

Good luck with that. These idiots post everything about the books and then complain that it's your fault you haven't spent the last 15 years reading 5000 pages.

They'll get their burrowing rats in the end, farkers. Do you really feel cool because you posted stuff that's not on the show yet? Does it make you feel smart? Does it make your penis feel bigger than its usual 4 inches?

lol. I have noticed it's a real point of pride for people to be able to spoil this series.

Sorry to break it to you but most of us don't give a damn about you or whether the series is spoiled for you. We enter these threads to discuss a book and TV series we love with other people who have read and watched them as well. Sometimes our discussions range past the TV series because there are still plenty of unresolved plot points and Martin doesn't always spell everything out in the books.

(no spoilers)

One of the most interesting of these to me is Renly. I have had a few different people, here and in other discussions say they didn't think Renly was gay in the books, It is true that in the books there was no explicit sex scene like in the show between Loras and Renly but the hints were there about Renly from beginning and in book 2 it was all but spelled out about him and Loras.

I actually hate what they've done with Renly in the show. He was not a coward or afraid of fighting. I feel like the shows writers were poisoned because they believed Ned and Catelyn's opinions of him.

Renly was right when he offered Ned soldiers to take Cersei and her kids in hand and take over ruling. He was right to leave Kings Landing when Ned refused him. His meandering march from Storms End to Kings Landing that Catelyn took for youthful frivolity was actually genius strategy. Kings Landing was starving and scared while his army was partying and feasting every night. If you were on the fence which side would you join?

you are a puppet: So vote rape?

Exactly. One would never desire rape. Rape is not to be praised. But it's common sense to realize the situations and locations in which it is more likely to occur.

/this thread is a 40 pound box of rape for people not wishing to be spoiled for game of thrones

I'd like to see Jack Gleeson show up on "Mad Men", considering the current complement of actors who have played (or are playing) dark, evil roles.

I haven't seen Mad Men but I have the Season 1 DVD Netflix sitting on my coffee table so hopefully I can get to it soon. I don't know if I'm going to start that one or Justified first.

palelizard:

Didn't all of Robb's battles occur off-camera in the books?

Pretty much. I was kinda hoping to see some action when they all moved forward. The acting is top notch and I'm never bored watching an episode, just want to see a little more action.

Dear fark was that last episode, and especially the hooker scene, just uncomfortable.

I'm really tired right now, so I'll try. But it'll be in a bunch of short / fragmented sentences.

I hate the character Joffery with a passion. I'd like to see vile things happen to him (in the series). I posted my sentiments here. Some people have been posting how some fans have been threatening in real life, the actor who plays Joffery. Someone responded to me saying I should seek mental health. Hating the 'bad guys' in a fictional piece is simply a sign of being passionate about the work at hand. Better compliment to the author to want to see Joffery die in the series then not care at all, no? I tried to respond to the guy explaining that. Guess I didn't do a good job. End of explanation. My head hurts.

Oh, ok.... hope you get a nap :-)

I haven't read all the comments here, but here is my take on "Summer" and "Winter."

They aren't ACTUAL seasons. "Summer" refers to the "Golden Ages" of Westeros. When things worked nice and smooth. "Winter" is when all hell breaks loose.

Which is why "Summer" can last 7 years. Spring and Fall are never mentioned, AFAIK.

Also why the Stark motto is "Winter is Coming." They are always prepared for shiat to get real.

Detinwolf: Cythraul: I don't want to punch Joffery.

I want to slowly boil him alive in a vat of oil starting at his toes and eventually reaching his eyeballs. But before that, I want to place him in a giant fire ant mound for a few hours after starving him close to death for weeks. And before that, I'd like to use 'the pear' on him repeatedly until his anus resembled ground beef.

Yeah, I don't like him very much.

Fictional character dude. Please seek a psychiatrist.

auralpleasure: if the characters you didnt care about were in feast then reading dance should be much more to your liking.

I haven't read Dance but the reviews for it are weaker than for the other books, often citing a plodding story and way too much descriptive prose. Concerns me a bit...

I honestly felt that Dance was one of the strongest of all the books, and I re-read all the previous ones to prepare for it.

How does Westeros have any trees left with all this metalwork constantly being made and replaced and everybody and their brother using a charcoal brazier?

I was under the impression that the seasons on this world are a lot longer lasting and harsher than on Earth. I seem to remember one scene where an elder is explaining to young people that they don't know what a real winter is like, since they were born during a 'long summer.' She then goes on to describe how there was once a winter so long (several years long) where people were killing their babies rather than see them starve.

I may be wrong. But that was what I gathered.

Maybe they're saving up. There's some cool stuff north of the Wall and the dragons get more screen time later on so it should be good. One thing I can say about the show is that it is never boring and hardly disappointing.

I was wondering during Sunday's episode, did I miss an explanation somewhere that explained WHY Renly was so loved by his people? I skimmed the first book after watching Season 1 first and half read/half audiobooked ACOK on a train ride to Seattle so maybe I did. I haven't been able to figure out why everyone loves Renly so much (at least in the books). Does it have something to do with the queen? Nothing wrong with Renly's portrayal in the show but he doesn't seem like someone that commands 100,000 soldiers to raise their banners for him.

I think it was mentioned earlier in ther series that people saw him as kind and fair during his tenure on the small council while they thought his brother was a bit brutish and his other brother kind of a dick (or now a ham apparently)

I thought they'd explained the seasons being actual seasons.... just years long. So when "winter comes" it gets snowy and nobody can grow food any more for several years. They even mention that the winter and summers are of varying lengths, and that this has been one of the longest summers on record.

I think in the last episode someone even mentioned that the snow is going to end up being like 30 feet deep during winter. And when winter does come then the nasty things that live in the snowy lands in the north end up coming south to terrorize everyone. So summer is when it is warmer, people can grow food and the nasty shiat mostly stays behind the wall because the Black Watch is up there to make sure that a few nasty critters here and there don't venture south occasionally.

I really thought that the way Joffrey finally getting his due was unsatisfying. Choking on poisoned baked goods was too good of a death for him IMHO. Oh well, since it goes in with the theme of Martin saying he was trying to break fantasies cliches, I'll get over it. One of the reasons I like it so much is cause it is unpredictable.

Well, nah, only half. Arya is great. Sansa is horrific - and not in a good way like Joffrey. As someone said in a previous GoT thread, without her internal monologues it is difficult to tell that she's more naive than just a miserable waste of space.

Also, I didn't think they could cast a Fat Tarly I would hate more than the Tarly in the books. They proved me oh so wrong.

And might I add that his wife, dragon biatch, is the WORST LEADER EVAR. Besides her naivete getting her baby and her husband killed her shiatty leadership has also resulted in the once great hordes of those horse dudes getting devastated by farking hunger and thirst so that there's now only like 20 of them left. I was under the impression that most of the horde had simply abandoned her group when Drogo died, leaving her with a very small group. This group then decided to stick with her when they saw the dragons. They've lost people, but Drogo's horde had already been practically reduced to nothing when she took over, for the most part.

Most all of them deserted her because Dhothraki don't follow chicks. And everyone wants her dragons so she had to flee. They're not exactly fiercer than kittens right now. That's pretty much how she ended up there.

The Dhothraki are merely a means to an end, once Dany got the Dragons, the bloodriders became superfluous. Mostly they are a vanguard of hired thugs since she picked up all those slave dudes and then laid waste.

palelizard: Cymbal: Elfich: Cythraul: doczoidberg: Would someone please tell me EXACTLY what Geoffry did in the most recent episode???
My girlfriend won't friggin' say anything, other than that it made her sick, and I won't be seeing the episode until at least next week.

WHAT DID THAT LITTLE BASTARD DO???

Don't panic. Nobody died. But he is showing himself to be extremely sadistic. I'd tell you more. But you really should be patient and see for yourself.

Well he's no Roose Ramsay Snow(Bolton), that's a man who knows how to inflict pain.
