Seattle - is that the one with the bigfoots?

2012-04-23 11:22:42 PM
I have only been there once, and loved it. I live in San Francisco now, so it is hard to complain, but if I were to move anywhere else, it would for sure be Seattle.

2012-04-23 11:23:00 PM

MrEricSir: Last time I was in Seattle the traffic was a nightmare, and they were just beginning construction on a light rail system. Did that work out? Or is it still hell to get from point A to point B during rush hour?

IMO, traffic is a bit better than it was a few years ago, but I think that has more to do with the economy than anything else. The train is running, but who wants to live in the Rainier Valley?

2012-04-23 11:25:07 PM
Yes the cyclists here are douchebags. Yes, please go ahead of my car at the stoplight so I can follow you going 2 MPH when the light turns green for 3 blocks, forced to look at your arrogant, misshapen behind in tight shorts until I can safely pass. Share the road my arse.

What does a coked out blonde harpie have to do with the economic despair of Aberdeen? Last I checked, they were fortunate enough that she wasn't haunting their streets.

I was expecting to find "Boston" at the end of this headline. Oh well.

That pic of the Seattle Library is pretty close. You forgot the homeless vagrants that are allowed to look at porn on the public computers in front of everyone though.

Chameleon: Dinjiin: 'd say that Aberdeen is several levels of despair deeper than Ocean Shores. The only other time I've seen poverty that bad was when I went to school in the deep south. Ocean Shores is paradise in comparison.

There's a reason Courtney killed Kurt and made it look like he killed himself.

Do you like Dicks?

Hey, that's the Dick's by my house!

In Seattle, "Eat a bag of Dick's" is actually a damned fine idea.

Good question. I'd go.

MrSteve007: AbbeySomeone: You forgot to mention Mt. Rainier glistening menacingly in our back yards.

As someone who lives in the Orting Valley, and has this view out my backyard, I fully concur with this assessment:
[a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net image 640x479]
Look at how that evil mountain peak peeks over the ridge. It's almost as if it's pressing you down with its menacing terror.

TERROR!

When Mt. Rainier rears it's ugly head and it's image violates your airspace, where's it gonna go? Seattle.

I so desperately want to move somewhere to the northwest chunk of the States. (Not California, screw that.) The weather here is godawful humid and hot in the summer, and bitterly cold in the winter. Also -- and this may just be hearsay -- but I heard that it's possible that there might be actual job openings somewhere up around there.

I'd love to live in Seattle. One of maybe two places I'd even consider moving to.

/useless sports teams?
/Toronto

2012-04-24 03:51:39 AM
I just moved to the Kitsap area from Oklahoma. All you people ragging on Seattle, just remember you could live in Oklahoma where your view is FLAT with the occasional roaming tornado. The grass is always greener of course, but your "shiathole" IS the lesser of all evils.

/Will take rain over 105F days anytime.

Seattle?

I went to school in Portland, and it gave me a deep hatred of hipsters and Trustafarians.

2012-04-24 04:10:28 AM
I guess subby was unaware of the main Fark demographic. 20 something potheads working in or going to school for IT and leaning to the left. Come to think of it I don't meet any of that criteria so why do I still come here? The cats

2012-04-24 04:29:12 AM
As a Seattle hipster I am everything y'all hate, so stay far, far away.

- The Sounders may yet redeem our terrible sports team history.

fark off subby, Seattle is awesome. I think everyone should move there. Even talk their aging relatives into retiring there. I especially think folks from the NY / NJ Metro area should start migrating there, they would love it.

MOVE TO SEATTLE EVERYONE!

2012-04-24 06:46:07 AM
I'd be down to attend a Seattle Fark party. And to Miss Stein, I live o'er by Golden Gardens.

Two words: Bikini Baristas.

2012-04-24 08:01:48 AM
Seattle is a bigger, dirtier meaner version of Portland, I am and always have been unimpressed by it.

10 resident of P-town, in all fairness this is probably one of the nicest places on the planet to live but I am sick to death of the winters here, the plan is to move someplace sunny for a couple years and charge my batteries.

2012-04-24 08:26:04 AM
Seattle is the greatest place to live in the whole world! You listening, Californians? Portland absolutely sucks, just keep driving north, don't stop or the hipsters will attack you. Seattle is more like home if you're from LA, anyway; you can drive for a long time and still be surrounded by people. No such luck in Portland, it's too tiny to be comfortable.

2012-04-24 08:46:14 AM
Visited Seattle once. Wasn't bad except for the hordes of filthy hipsters wandering around trying to look "scene-y" and "edge-y" and just generally making a nuisance of themselves. Oh, and the farking panhandlers. And the Starbuckses. You can't swing a dead hipster panhandler without hitting 3 Starbuckses.

Just pave over the whole city and start again. Didn't they do that once already? Or was that an episode of Scooby Doo?

AbbeySomeone: Smeggy Smurf: As a former resident of both Renton and Port Angeles I'd like to give a hearty FARK YOU to the entire Puget Sound. May your dicks shrivel up and your tits sag to the knees

If you add Ocean Shores or Burien to your list you will have lived in all the sh*t hole areas. None of them is Seattle proper.

Add Everett and Granite Falls to the list of places not to live in near Seattle.

/grey and overcast right now

2012-04-24 09:59:18 AM
Don't forget the smelly hippies, ridiculous number of hipster coffee shops and horrible traffic. Seattle also has a (shudder) monorail. Oh, and lots of minorities, but that's par for the course with a liberal city.

Nightjars: The best thing about living in Seattle is not living in Detroit.

No, the best thing about Detroit is that it's not Seattle:

Technoir: Just pave over the whole city and start again. Didn't they do that once already?

Yep. Not even Detroit can say they had to hit the reset button. Seattle actually hit that motherfarker.

Honestly, move to Dallas. Plenty of jobs, cheap property, low taxes, conservative politics, lots of sunshine and they want you there.
