You certainly have a strong grasp on the moviemaking process.

So anyone who protests for a cause they believe in is a Dumbass? I suppose Subby is some sort of political genius who thinks planting his fat ass on the couch will stop the perpetual shredding of our country's social safety net.

Props to Wylie and Clooney for putting their feet on the ground and getting some "skin in the game", rather than hosting a press conference from their private estates and pontificating about their hypothetical sympathy for the masses. mad respect for that.

Yeah, I raised an eyebrow too. MLK was arrested multiple times. "Dumbass," indeed.

Is it pronounced "wylee" as in coyote or is it like "while"?
I wonder this every time I see his name.

The comments section on TMZ looks a lot like youtube comments section. My personal experience is that my Facebook 'friends' that parrot the herp & derp are among the loneliest and most bitter people. They seem to have no life outside of the herp & derp... well the Golden Corral does have a chocolate fountain.

Probably. I wanted to like it, I really did. But it became the "We've got to save my son, Ben, who was taken by the aliens." "Screw the safety of our group, we're going to be reckless in our attempt to save my son, Ben, who was taken by the aliens." "I don't care how many of us are going to die so long as we save my son, Ben, who was taken by the aliens." I just wanted them to kill Ben, so he'd shut the f*ck up about Ben...

I had the EXACT same wish two farking episodes in. Of course, that kid is in good company:

Also, is Wyle trying to win some bizarre Jewish grandmother points? Arrested for protesting Medicare cuts? I'm not saying it's not a good cause, it's just a little...geriatric.

As a father, I related very much to his character, and the conflicts and struggles he was dealing with there. I love the show.

It's "Wy-lee".

CSB time:

I met Noah - we literally walked into each other at the Boston Museum of Science. I think he was in town shooting Falling Skies (he had a magnificent beard), but he was having a day with his wife and kids. He couldn't have been nicer - I was coming out of the ladies room and I think he was waiting for his wife and kid, who were still in the bathroom. Anyway. Double-take and gushing about ER ensued, it was pretty awesome.

First off, providing medical care for the elderly isn't some boy scout cause, its basic decency. Second, Medicare for the Disabled covers people under 65, even children. It is incredibly expensive (care for the severely disabled is costly), and the disabled aren't nearly as large voting block as the elderly, so the program is a favorite target whenever people start talking about finding ways to save money. Despite its cost, the program keeps the disabled in their homes and out of institutions (which are under-staffed and poorly funded as it is).

The cost of this care is cost prohibitive for any individual and all but the wealthiest families, and it is long term. Medicare funding allows us to spread the cost of caring for these individuals across society as a whole. If the program gets cut those people will not be able to find a private alternative, and will flood state-run institutions. It will simply shift the financial burden of care from Medicare to the states, and reduce quality of life for this population and their families (most families will go into bankruptcy before allowing a family member to be institutionalized). The only way that any tax savings will come is if the states completely shed this responsibility and let the disabled die in the streets while their families beg for food.

There is no private solution. We commit to taking care of this population. or we commit to letting them die.

So no. Its not a geriatric problem.

Care for the disabled is costly.

Unlike Caruso, Clooney actually has a sense of humor about himself to go with his ego. Also unlike Caruso, Clooney transitioned slowly, like you're supposed to.

My husband was on medicare for the disabled. We still ran through most of our money but there is no way I could have made enough to pay the costs for his dialysis. It billed to our insurance at about $50,000 per month. Insurance picked up 80%, medicare the remaining 20%.

Oh it was fine until the retarded season finale.

What was retarded about it? I guess it's strange that after all this time, the aliens just now want to talk with any of the humans. Especially since they are enslaving us. But if you are so superior and some inferior group some how takes out your shiny plane and damage a fortress in the process, might be worth a laugh to talk. Especially to the person who looks to be a leader, who can then be manipulated.

I just don't know where the show can go from here. Obviously the coordinated strike failed. We have the answer to the harnessed kids. Now what?

Not the ending per se, but the rest of the damn episode. "The aliens are using OUR bullets, but with their special deus ex metal that we can smelt ourselves in a high school chem lab?" Or "well, our whole plan failed but weve got this one RPG left, might as well take a pot shot... oooo, lucky shot, base destroyed, guess our mission was a success after all". It was just all so... dumb.

And i like the show, it has a lot of potential, plus bonus points for showing the damn aliens up close and in focus in the first episode, none of that shaky cam vague glimpse bullshiat thats so popular with producers wanting to save CGI budget nowadays.

Also Medicare helps to take care of disadvantaged youth. Basically the poorest of the poor in our society. Getting rid of Medicare or cutting back is a bad idea. There are just way too many people it's helping.

Kudos to Noah for helping people that don't have a voice in D.C. I wish more people would stick up for the disadvantaged. Especially respected people like Noah.

(I think the only thing I saw him in was when he played Steve Jobs in Pirates of Silicon Valley)

Falling Skies:
While I agree that the whole Ben thing was tiresome in its browbeating, it was also necessary to tie him to the group and show that he's got his own motives.

Still, Falling Skies writers, if you can read this: more subtlety, please. Show, don't tell.
