i attempted something similar when my children were babies. i took a twenty second to two minute video of each of them each day. I thought it was coming along rather well. Then, my husband taped an X-Files episode or some foolishness over it.

My 9 month old recently figured out how to take pictures of himself with my DS. He sees himself, takes a picture and giggles and he's been doing it almost daily for the last few weeks. He's gotten quite confident with it and is pretty good at framing himself and all that. I just like the variety of expressions he's managed to capture. I'm backing them up and keeping them all for purely mommy sentimental reasons. Maybe when he's 18 or something, I'll put them in a "Baby's Self-Portrait" album for him.

I am slightly worried about the narcissism though.

You wonder how many parents start something like this and then quietly give up when their children turn out to be ugly little trolls.

THIS. I have a five-year-old daughter. She has not shut up since age 2. Luckily, she's hilarious most of the time, but oh my god my ears are tired.
