JusticeandIndependence: Satire? I can't tell anymore

It's a far-left spin site covering a far-right spin site's interview of an extremist conservative, so it's so useless in terms of actual analysis that you might as well call it satire and move on with your life.

Though I have to admit that if I ever start a metal band "giant tornado of abortions" is now on the name short-list.

meat0918: trivial use of my dark powers: As long as they just pray, and leave everyone else alone, that's fine. Unfortunately, experience with these self-righteous, self-loathing, self-closeted loons makes me fear otherwise.

Which is all the more moronic, because God commands them to accept all governments and leaders as if they were agents of God.

1 Peter 2:13: "For the Lord's sake accept the authority of every human institution, whether of the emperor as supreme, or of governors, as sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right."

Romans 13:1: "Let every person be subject to the governing authorities; for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resist authority resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment."

To be fair, I think the general thrust there is less "the authorities speak with God's own voice" and more "concern yourself with being the best person you can be and change the world by example, don't rebel against Rome, you idiots (because they'll beat your dumb asses near to death and then finish the job with some lions or a crucifix)".

Why do tornadoes hit most often in the regions with the most religion?

Maybe they're praying to the wrong god.

Yeah, I'd be fine with them organizing some kind of massive "Pray the Gay Away" event. And then when that doesn't work they'll realize that God is OK with people being gay, right?

Well, yeah, and we discard divine right of rulers a long time ago.

Still, these people tend to be Bible is inerrant types, so it's not entirely unexpected that they would still ignore anything that clashes with their world view, regardless of source.

After looking at the video, a room with maybe about eighteen people, not including the people on stage is supposed to make me quake my boots? If they had everyone in the entire rally sit in the same pew there would be plenty of room left over.

That is the saddest rally I have ever seen.

Nope, they didn't pray hard enough, or God is testing them.

Sadly, having major prayers go unanswered reinforces faith a lot of the time. The brain really works overtime to rationalize why things didn't turn out the way a person was expecting.

They're a little late to the game. Back in 2009 John Piper blamed tornadoes in Minneapolis on the Lutherans voting to ordain gay ministers. You're behind the times on your anti-gay rhetoric if you're a professional anti-gay activist and are only getting around to talking about tornadoes three years after John Piper.

Here's the way I see it... IF there is anything that is really dangerous (not fictitiously dangerous like people being homosexual in your vicinity) and you're religious, please stop whatever you're doing immediately and pray. Your god must obviously be quite angry with you and has sent that destructive force of nature to destroy you for your sins. You must pray as hard as you can to convince your god to spare you from it's wrath. If you pray and your god destroys you anyways, well I suppose you deserve what you're getting... it's god's will that you die, after all.

Everyone else... assess, think, and react in an appropriate manner while you seek protective shelter/high ground/etc.

Didn't I see this movie on SyFy the other night?

These guys don't have the right cast for it, though. If they want to combat the evil gaynados, they need a few things more: a crazy scientist/conspiracy theorist with a plan that may sound insane but just might work; a hot woman to spout occasional blurbs of technobabble in between standing around and looking vaguely hot (or, in Rae Dawn Chong's case, vaguely nauseating, these days); the stern military leader to tell the scientists 'fark off, someone get me a nuke, that'll fix it;' and a midget.

Mind you, I'm not sure how that would change for a gaynado. Maybe the military dude would have to have been gayly molested to make him angry and bitter, and the scientist is questioning his own sexuality?

Despite having grown up in fundamentalist Christian circles, it was only just the other day that I learned that apparently a lot of fundamentalist types don't just have a problem with teh gheys having buttsecks, they don't want anybody having having buttsecks, even heterosexually married couples. Liberty University created an uproar within fundamentalist circles for inviting sex-obsessed (but otherwise fundamentalist and also very anti-gay) preacher Mark Driscoll to speak in chapel. The reason for the uproar? His book on marriage endorses anal as being acceptable within marriage. End result is lots of people complaining because "Godly Christian men don't sodomize their wives."

In other words, it's not just the gays they're going after, they want to stop the straight people from having what they deem to be the "wrong" kind of sex too.

Is homophobia associated with homosexual arousal?
J Abnorm Psychol. 1996 Aug;105(3):440-5.

Adams HE, Wright LW Jr, Lohr BA.
Department of Psychology, University of Georgia, Athens 30602-3013, USA.

Abstract
The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

I bet they think it's a gateway activity to becoming gay.

It's not even that--or at least not like that for everybody. At least some of them honestly think that it's just inherently unacceptable. There's much talk about how it's disrespecting your wife to want her to "degrade herself" like that.

You know, for such a powerful cabal of immorality, the gays sure do seem to get the short end of the stick most of the time.
