How many people has that landlord had to lay off because of this?

Too complicated. Just designate the property a farm and apply for a subsidy from the Federal government. Michelle knows the process.

Our Democratic governor won after an(other) automatic recount. Without him, we'd be in the same boat as Wisconsin.

From what I hear from my Minnesota friends, this.

Their response is priceless. They won't be evicted because it's not their fault the lease they signed was for a space bigger than they needed for more than they could afford.

2012-04-23 06:39:01 PM
"Rather than continue discussions with us, the landlord chose to exercise its rights and filed a notice of eviction in Ramsey County court. We're not going to be evicted, and at the same time, are continuing to negotiate on the back payments as well as on a lease that better fits both our space needs and our budget.

Really, you haven't paid the rent for almost 9 months, the landlords gone to the courthouse, and you don't think you're getting evicted? Do you have dirt on the judge or something?

I think the democratic party should bail them out with a condition that they put Obama signs through out the building and on the lawn .

The one thing in American politics that bugs me more than any other?

HOW THE FOOK DID THE GOP EVER GET THE "GOOD WITH MONEY" REP OVER THE DEMS?!

/Soz for yelling.
//Really bugs me.

This is pretty typical in political parties. The Massachusetts GOP blew off a bill of mine a few years ago for some consulting work that I did for them. It wasn't worth chasing down, especially given that they had already screwed another consultant that I know out of many thousands around the same time.

I did eventually get paid, a couple of years later when they needed some of the data from the project. They were... overly indignant when I threw the "yeah. fark you" number at them, but a check showed up a week later.

The first rule of dealing with political organizations is get the money up front. Once the election happens, they stop caring about their bills.

I don't see how they think they wont get evicted? If they admit not to having paid for 9 months, and the landlord decides to evict then surely the court hearing is just a matter of form?

Or do they want the court to force a private business to not operate as it chooses for political reasons? Sounds a bit soshulism to me.

That's very presumptive of you, asshole. However, when have Republicans ever kept a deal? (Not saying Democrats are perfect. GITMO... Single-payer, etc...)

As a landlord, I hope they get the Sheriff to change the locks and they set all your sh*t on fire in front of the building in the middle of the night.

Pay your f*cking rent, you scumbags.

The state GOP parties are running up a debt in several states, actually. MN happens to be one of the worst. Also, the GOP isn't doing a good job running their primary elections either (ME, IA, NV, AR, etc.).

quatchi: HOW THE FOOK DID THE GOP EVER GET THE "GOOD WITH MONEY" REP OVER THE DEMS?!

Because they have always been the party of high finance. The "Masters of the Universe" who everybody thought could do no wrong. Well, the curtain was peeled back in 2008 and they've been trying to pull it back ever since.

They were NEVER better at finances. They just had the trappings of white guys in suits, whilst the Democrats allowed in women and blacks. You know, they are very bad with money. It was all perception.
It still is perception. People trust an old white guy with their money over a black man, especially if that white man is worth millions. They don't even care how he earned it, it just shows he's better with money.

That is their entire campaign.

Because they assert it over and over again until it becomes known. Much like Michael Jackson demanded that he be called the King of Pop. Just like they are the party of small government, despite the fact that they don't ever shrink the government in any meaningful way.

Actually no. It was a quirk of last election. Took everyone by surprised they won even one chamber let alone two. It will fix itself in November.

/meanwhile the St. Cloud college republicans have scheduled gay-hater Dean to a sponsored event

So they've taken the fact that they are "Good with (read "For") the Money Guys" and turned that into a narrative where they are the "Good with the Money" Guys.

Charming.

As Sock Ruh Tease and Diogenes have already pointed out Michele And Marcus Bachmann know how to work the system. Let Rmoney shift some of his Cayman Island money to them for a week or two. The Bachmanns buy the property, Rmoney fires all the employees and the Bachmanns cancel the delinquent GOP rent bills in escrow.

Afterwards, Rmoney claims he created jobs, Marcus claims he prayed away the gay and Michele ... You can't reason with batshiat crazy. Their defaulted mortgage is blamed on Barney Frank and black people.

Renting your storefront to a political party is a gamble. Odds are they don't plan on paying anyway. They're all jerkoffs, players system gamers and will skip out after the election whether they win or not. It's a temp position.

/Get paid up front.

I think this has a lot to do with "Citizens United" and the rise of the Super Pacs. Millions of dollars that would normally flow into the coffers of state and local parties are being diverted into these Super Pacs to directly support the candidate of the donor's choice.

I lived in MN for 25 years--a wonderful place--but for the last 15 years, the MN GOP attitude really has been, to paraphrase the late Leona Helmsley:

"Only the little people pay rent."

2012-04-24 08:47:51 AM
TV Anchorman: In a surprise announcement, the Republican National Committee has revealed it is bankrupt. A spokesman for the party said they had plenty of money in their accounts last week, but today they just don't know where the money has gone. But not everybody is going begging. Amnesty International, Greenpeace and the United Negro College Fund announced record earnings this week, due mostly to large, anonymous donations.

As someone who grew up in rural MN and who now lives in the Twin Cities, I thought that moving to St Paul would have kept me safe from the stupidity of those who have never lived more than 5 miles away from the farmhouse or country hospital they were born in. Then I remembered that Teabaggers vote these days :(
