No, they lost Rotterdam to the sea.

To be fair, that could have been anywhere. Say, Liverpool, or even Rome, perhaps.

Their economy is in shambles and the government is trying to restrict marijuana sales from tourists? The stupidity of government makes me sad.

obviously, the austerity he tried to impose was too large....about 50% more than what was needed to bring the deficit within EU budget rules.

not sure why he pushed for such a large figure, perhaps the ratings cut for France scared him.

Shrinking aggregate demand increases GDP!

Question, have any of these business major politicians ever taken a economics course? Seems they sacrifice their own children at the feet of their cost cutting gods. In fact, they're doing just that.

So basically the moral of the story is that austerity measures are good and necessary for everybody else. Until it happens in your country.

Austerity is a complete failure and it will cripple any nation that attempts to implement it. Guaranteed.

casual disregard: Austerity is a complete failure and it will cripple any nation that attempts to implement it. Guaranteed.

Given that the nations considering it are already economic basket cases, "crippled" is a step up.
