I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say here. I usually understand, but disagree with, but this just seems like a complete non sequitur.

I'm saying religious zealots have a tendency to act like zealots. You're "not entirely clear" why positions on women's issues doesn't leave his religion wide open for any and all mockery.

There's another religion out there not well known for not treating women real well and the zealots in that religion will call, not for an apology, but a head chopping if you mess with their prophet or holy scribblings.

So you, sir, need to be more "clear" on these things.

Religion is wide open for any and all mockery. And in this case it's pretty funny. What they did is they saw a situation where a particular religious group in the United States was waging significant attacks on women, most notably women's reproductive rights. So what The Daily Show did was satirically insert an icon from their religion (A manger or nativity scene) physically between them and what they are attacking (in this case represented by a woman's genitals). So I'm pretty clear on what happened, no idea why it's offensive though (not surprised that they think it is), And I'm not clear on why they think it's perfectly acceptable to attack women's rights.

I ignored the muslim thing because, at best, it's a "Well, those guys are worse" argument, which is not a real argument. Muslims have just as many ridiculous beliefs that can be used to attack other people's rights but they are no where near a significant force in the US so not really relevant here.

Actually, Wikipedia says the CL had 233,000 paid members in 1999, which was the last year it reported membership statistics.

According to the CL website, year-long memberships are $30 per person, or $20 for students/seniors.

That's a pretty steep fee for someone to pay if they're not on totally on board with the message.

The CL isn't a lone nutjob with a fax machine, and the more people know about them the less effective they will be.
