The video is pretty funny with the stupid kids trying to keep up.

/Stupid does as stupid sees
//also the police with a regular citizen getting a ticket on the side of the road

Holy .... I thought this would be in Ocean or Atlantic Counties, where it is relatively quiet (especially once you pass the Toms River area) but the start of that video was up by Newark and Irvington where the GSP is more like an urban highway. Even the stretches through Union and Middlesex are usually pretty busy (unless the scenes where they slowed for traffic were cut). I did find it interesting they went through the slow lanes and not the EZPass express lanes at the Raritan River (saw my exit at 4:34).

Was anybody able to tell what exit they got off at at the end?

109. That's Newman Springs Rd in Lincroft, they turned east, towards Red Bank. Maybe going somewhere in Rumson?

Apparently so. I've done it in my old Nissan, and I was getting tailgated.

Identify 'em, confiscate the cars, sell them at auction and use whatever you earn to turn off sales tax at Wal-Mart for two hours, or something.

Any millionaire who doesn't cry when you take the car, you charge that one an extra $50k to cover the costs of replacing the cops involved.

Of course this was just limited to the one Sgt and is just an anomaly. There isn't a corrupt culture that encouages this.

"Thinking the laws don't apply to you isn't normal, but on police powertripping, it is.

Who needs a police escort to do 100mph? They should be charged with Being Pussies.

I don't think that is codified into law, so your suggestion is at best a daydream.

"the race was done at the request of Giants star Brandon Jacobs"

I think this tidbit should have been up in say, paragraph 1 or 2

2012-04-23 06:46:41 PM
This is supposedly called "death race" and apparently the poice were facilitating the whole thing. So stupid considering they were hardly racing, and more like following each other while doing triple digit speeds. Brandon Jacobs was in one of the cars..and it's just a bunch of douchebag rich dudes making a spectacle while all the pissants gawk and and try to move out of the privileged jerk-offs way...and u know, supporting the state troopers with God knows how much cashish and autographs...

....whole thing makes me ill...if some lady driving a mini-van with her newborn wailing in the back makes a wrong move while trying to get that sippy-cup for the 3 yr old and got killed because she didn't react in time..and possibly causing a chain reaction whereas many get hurt well....

...they'd just pay their way out I'm sure

Sometimes boys will be boys, and besides you got to blow those type engines out once in a while.

cig-mkr: and besides you got to blow those type engines out once in a while.

Not unless they're carbureted or turbo diesel, which they aren't. And even if they were, the effect is dependent on fuel flow and engine speed, which you can do at high rpm in 1st easier than in 6th, anyway.

What is it with people whose knee-jerk reaction to nice sports cars is, "They must be compensating for having a small dick"? What kind of hangups are they dealing with, I wonder?

Crazy as this might sound, some people really enjoy a gorgeous, finely-tuned, well-engineered car and would really enjoy owning one if they had the money. And it's got nothing to do with compensating for something (or a lack thereof), it because something like this ...

In 1977 I was running south out of Kingsville TX at 85 mph when a State Trooper's lights flashed in my mirrors. Thought my goose was cooked but to my surprise he just waved me to the side of the road, and a moment later an elegant Rolls Royce Phantom Phaeton IX bearing Prince Charles to the ranch of Ambassador Anne Armstrong whipped by me at 125+.

Some years later, Vice President George H.W. Bush passed through Corpus on his way to a hunting weekend in nearby Beeville; they cleared off the whole freeway for the VP's motorcade and mine was one of many hundeds of cars pulled over. I clocked the Vice President's car at 2:16 over a measured 4-mile span, for an average speed of 104 mph.

I have also seen lesser officials exceed speed limits when there was no need, and I routinely see police officers driving 80--100+ with no lights.

Just goes to show you, some pigs are a lot more equal than others in this Animal Farm.

shoegaze99: because something like this . . .

. . . is a hell of a car, but still for people with far more money than imagination.

But it's their money, and hopefully they're happy with the toys they buy. Still, they're no more 'right' in spending their money that way than other people are 'right' for scorning them. Opinions are opinions.

If you buy it in red, you don't even need to be compensating for a tiny dick, because you are already a huge tool.

90mph is pretty common on our local Interstates, with 100mph not unheard of when passing or on a wide open stretch. SCHP are really nice guys. Just use proper lane etiquette, and you're pretty good.

Well, those of you with out-of-state tags might need to be a little more careful.

I got my Sentra up to 110 on the Jersey Turnpike while some mustachio'd Staten Island asshat in a suburban cocksucker pickup truck was flashing his brights and driving three inches from my bumper. There was literally no where for me to go but forward or deadward. He got pulled over though, after I slipped between two semis. 110! And I only know that because that's where my speedomter stopped responding. It was like riding a flaming rollerskate through Michelle Bachmann's id.

It's because they're still working at Mcdonalds on their liberal arts degree, and they had to take the bus because their Pontiac Grand Am just broke down for the 17th time.

2012-04-23 11:18:53 PM
See this spoils the illusion of the reason for the speed limit and all those revenue gathering speeding tickets. Just the typical cop doing a 100mph because he feels like it is one thing. There's always the 'emergency call' that doesn't require having the rollers on and mysteriously gets canceled near the doughnut shop that us mundanes just couldn't know about. That can be lived with... but add a few rich athletes that some cops want to be friends with and well that's just going to spoil the whole scam. Someone has to pay. Better to sacrifice a cop or two than risk the millions of dollars the scam brings in every year.

They're compensating for something. Or they're absurdly wealthy and are having trouble spending money fast enough. The vast majority of millionaires look just like everyone else. They drive practical vehicles, live in modest homes, and wear off-the-rack clothes.

I have to disagree with this statement. I live in an area with an exceptional amount of wealth and people are more than happy to show it. (British Properties in West Vancouver just in case anyone was wondering)
