Talondel: The vast majority of people who live in Phoenix aren't from Phoenix.

I don't really agree with some of your other points but this is the biggest reason in my opinion.

Hmm...

Carrie power or Doan face?

Alright, the Blues. Or no... I don't know...

In other news, Google is one year late in marking Sticky Fingers' anniversary.

Thanks anyways Blackhawks. Now learn to pass next year.

I hope Nashville sweeps your terrible, goalie-heavy, bullsh*t-lucky, Bettman-owned, going-to-Quebec-next-year team, Coyotes fans. A single-handed victory for Mike Smith.

i dont want the playoffs to endddd

I'm speechless right now. 15 years of waiting for a night like this and FINALLY, we win a playoff series.

Hats off to the Hawks. I kinda hate that it was them because I like that team generally and never had an issue with their fans. If there was justice in this world, this would've gone 7 because they are that good.

/Well, Jimmy Hayes can go EABOD for being a Torres in boarding Rozsival in the 3rd
//Preds won't be easy, but bring them on.

Dude, savour this one. Savour this celebration. After the suffering through the shiatfit last year, not to mention a decade of moving-to-Canada jokes, you deserve it.

Well, to quote part of a headline I submitted 2 years ago: "not bad for a bankrupt team, eh?" :D

So looking at the first round of the Western Conference:

These are the teams that are out
Detroit Red Wings
Chicago Blackhawks
San Jose Sharks
Vancouver Canucks

These are the teams that are in
St Louis Blues
Phoenix Coyotes
LA Kings
Nashville Predators

So I can't tell--what's more important in the playoffs: offense or defense/goaltending?

2012-04-24 01:40:18 AM
Glad to see them take an early round exit, I just don't like that team. Too many suspension worthy hits. Congratulations to Phoenix and to desertgeek, this must be an awesome night for you.

Came wandering back home and saw this was still open.
All I got to say, if it's Coyotes against Preds.... goal-tending duel.

With the NBA playoffs starting soon, the Staples Center is going to be hosting games for the Kings, Lakers and Clippers. That's going to be a mess.

Whatsisface Dickwit the owner of the Clippers is going to wake up with a horse's head in his bed (preserved in poor-quality Staples ice) with a note attached reading "move the farking team to the Pond already, you farkhead."

I imagine not having to write Wayne Gretzky any more cheques helps . . . ;) Now y'all and Nashville make the O6 purists' heads explode. I expect to see full houses, and the highest ticket prices this side of a Leafs home opener.

I can't get the cap off!: I'm assuming he alluded to the worst officiating ever seen on ice.

He probably shouldn't complain considering the Rangers got a goal on the absolute bullshiat Foligno interference call.

Ottawa, well, you're in it now. Good luck.

Also, the Tortarella/Fonzi photoshop is brilliant. Well done.

Right after they learn to shoot at the part of the net that doesn't have a goalie in it. It's like they thought Smith's 5 hole was secretly placed in the Coyote logo.

No. Expect an announcement in the next 2-3 weeks of former Sharks CEO Craig Jameson buying the team to keep them in Phoenix in the long term. And Roenick is an investor in his group.

/League should just guarantee 2 expansion teams by 2015-16 to make the players happy in the next CBA

Talondel: 9beers: I want to like Phoenix but I can't stand their fans for not supporting the team during the regular season.

3) Phoenix is one of only a handful of markets where Hockey has to compete with all three of the major sports (football, baseball, basketball). Including a baseball team that won the division last year, and a basketball team that has a loyal following that has been here for years.
.

Umm, what? I'm not a huge sports fans, and off the top of my head: Boston, Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago, New York...

Unrelated, but they really need to fix the goaltender interference rule. Getting checked into the goalie should not be a penalty. Yes, the offense should avoid the goalie, but if you ARE avoiding him, then some a-hole knocks you into him, wtf are you supposed to do?

Any more of a mess than it's been since Christmas? The NBA had a compacted schedule on top of that.

The good news is that both NBA teams look to have home court in the 1st round while the Kings won't have home ice. I can see NBA games there Saturday-Tuesday with the Kings playing games 3-4 Wednesday and Friday.

During the regular season, schedules can be worked so that a team is on a long road trip when they don't have openings at their arena. In the playoffs, they obviously can't. You also have NHL overtime which can throw a wrench into things. The can't risk scheduling a daytime NHL game followed by an evening NBA game. What happens if the NHL game goes into triple OT? Not to mention there are other events scheduled for the Staples Center and the WNBA is starting up in a few weeks.

Tampa Bay has no basketball. LA has no football. Does CFL count? If not strike Toronto, too. Add Denver, Philadelphia, Dallas.

Does he have anyone with actual money backing him yet? It looked to me they were talking a similar deal with him that they tried with Matt Hulzier (sp?) last year. Wasn't all that fair to the tax payers if memory servers. Will Goldwater lose their shiat over this one too?

Good for those desert punks (I kid...I actually purchased a Yotes jersey back when they first came into the league, but damn that Smith and his smooth saving ability) Seriously, enough with the expansion! If anything the league needs to scale back a few teams.

Hmm that is rather promising, the stories I had read were older than those you provided and Greg didn't seem to have any real financial backing, nice to see some progress. I'm sure you'd like this nightmare to end!
