The lesson here is that you can never trust a New Yorker.

Love it.
I'd ask for it back. It was an implied contract.

Welp, that boss sounds like the most horrible human being I could possibly fathom. And I have a TF subscription.

Why do you hate capitalism, subby?

Who the hell donates a kidney for their boss? Even if a family member needed one, I'd have to think long and hard about it.

2012-04-23 12:51:41 PM
This is why you should always run from a company that tells you "We like to think of everyone here as family".

Don't walk. Run.

She take too many sick days?

It's the New York Post, so I'm taking this with a heaping mound of salt. But if there is a grain of truth in this, I think that we've found the incarnation of Scrooge on Earth.

^THIS^ I can't even start to relate how much truth is in this statement. The above is one of the most common things you will hear from a sociopath conman.

Something about this story and its source have my BS meter going crazy.

If you are expecting anything in return for donating an organ you're doing it for the wrong reason. And there are numerous reasons why she could have been fired. Donating a kidney shouldn't make you untouchable.

That's the transplantee, not the transplanter.

Subby, it's the NY Post for the love of sanity. You aren't supposed to believe it.

2012-04-23 01:37:47 PM
I know the NYP is our version of the Daily Fail and has only a passing acquaintance with the truth, but this one actually had me going until I got to the part about the villainess getting into a limo with "plastic cups and pink champagne".

2012-04-23 01:37:50 PM
Not to be the asshole, but, even in this very sympathetic story, this woman comes across as hopelessly naive and/or stupid.

2012-04-23 01:38:26 PM
That's why I traded my kidney for an iPad! That thing'll never grow obsolete.

2012-04-23 01:38:42 PM
I got the part of the article that mentioned the business was a car dealership and understood. No need to read any further.

The 1%.

Business ethics:
Assume you have a magic tree shredder that turns people into money. Further assume it's not illegal to kill people for profit. Since the purpose of any business is to profit, it would be un-ethical to not hunt down as many people as possible and shred them.

/just because it's legal doesn't make it ethical.

She's a chump. CEOs and many business owners are known sociopaths. The last thing I'd want to do is give one the time of day, let alone a body part.

IANAL, but it sounds like she doesn't have a kidney to stand on.

I wouldn't mind slipping one of my body parts into the CEO's body at work.

2012-04-23 01:40:09 PM
I could count the number of people I would willingly donate a kidney to on one hand.

My boss is not one of them.

This is absolute truth.

Also, no way would a boss get my kidney. It goes to ACTUAL family or loved person, period.

2012-04-23 01:42:20 PM
Has anyone pointed out that the headline is factually incorrect? She didn't donate the kidney to her boss, she donated it to someone who was higher on the transplant list so that her boss could move up the list faster.

People are pathetic when they want to suck up.

Giving up a kidney is a bad idea unless the person you are giving it up is more important to you than your own life.. kids, wife, husband. Being a donor if you croak in a car crash or whatever is a great idea though.

2012-04-23 01:43:25 PM
The boss never got that kidney if the article is to be believed..
