Nothing good can come of this...

Maybe they feel threatened.

Well he is a minority who has recently had some trouble with the law. Wouldn't want him walking around my gated community .

Bail.... how DOES it work?

I think I speak for the majority when I say that we are glad that Zimmerman is going to have a trial and that the rule of law will remain SOP in Florida. No one deserves to be stalked and hunted in a suburban neighborhood. Even though I'm not sure Zimmerman did the right thing, I do hope that a judge and jury can decide the case.

This is America. We keep the peace with laws and professional police officers.

Hope they are behind 17 boxxies.

Strik3r: Bail.... how DOES it work?

Let's ask Trayvon Martin!!!

If I were Zimmerman, I'd be a little nervous. Stand Your Ground doesn't just work for him.

/talk about a law with unintended consequences

If that were really the case Zimmerman wouldn't be on trial, and Treyvon would still be munching Skittles.

The problem is that the law didn't do it's job until there was a public outcry. Now the situation's got a life of its own, and anything short of conviction is going to result in riots.

Way to go, Florida.

Yeah, I'm sure he's got a lot to be worried about.

Talk about a successful red herring. (SYG is completely irrelevant to this case, but that hasn't stopped the drum-beaters on both sides.)

People are itching for a lynch mob, forgetting such lynch mobs were used against the blacks in the past. The sheer hypocrisy and racism in this trial and everything to do with it astonishes.

I agree with you. The point is that we don't appoint ourselves judge, jury and executioner and hassle people who are walking around on the street, minding their own business.

The Republicans are being frightened little girls. If you have a problem, call the cops. If you see someone walking home from the store, go home and watch TV.

markfara: The problem is that the law didn't do it's job until there was a public outcry.

You're assuming that he didn't have justification under the law and that the prosecutor's statements to the court in the bail hearing were false. Otherwise, the law did its job entirely correctly: It hauled him in, questioned him for hours, determined it didn't have a criminal case, and let him go.

Step 1: demand justice
Step 2: wait till he is released on bail
Step 3: ...fark it, I am to impatient for justice, lets just kill him already

2012-04-23 09:17:33 AM
I don't want to see Zimmerman killed.

I do want to see him off the streets and sitting in a jail cell.

Just don't go into any parking garages with a guy named Black Ruby.

Where he'll be killed within the first week, with the added bonus of higher costs to the taxpayer.

Honestly, isn't this just a show trial to placate the people crying for Zimmerman's blood?

It doesn't seem to me that the prosecution really has any chance of making a case, which is probably why charges weren't filed originally.

abfalter: I don't want to see Zimmerman killed.

I want him to be cleared of guilt, having acted in self defence.

Also, I want to Twitter morons making death threads being put in jail instead.

2012-04-23 09:21:06 AM
Zimmerman has completed his chameleon-like shift from white ("I shot him in self-defense, officer!") to brown ("I'm a mestizo who loves other minorities and tutors kids in the ghetto!") to black, and is hiding in plain sight in darkest Orlando. It's his masterstroke; the Zimmerman Gambit. And they never saw it coming.

2012-04-23 09:21:30 AM
The people crying about this probably posted long screeds about torturing Casey Anthony.

Because in the facts of the case as we know them at this point, Zimmerman didn't assault Martin.

Talk about a successful red herring. (SYG is completely irrelevant to this case, but that hasn't stopped the drum-beaters on both sides.)

If it's a red herring, it's one that was first cast out by the Zimmerman camp. In the weeks after the shooting, when they started trotting out statements from his father, his token black friend, and his then-lawyers, "stand your ground" was all they could talk about.

Funny, then, how once the original author of the law says it shouldn't apply, the governor assigns a taskforce to examine the law, and the public goes apeshiat, suddenly Zimmerman's lawyer is all, "stand your gound lol whut?"

The law questioned him for hours, interviewed witnesses and found no proof that he wasn't acting in self defense. What more can they do?

The lead investigator said they have no evidence that it wasn't self defense, yet they took it to trial because of the outcry. It's just a waste of everyone's time and taxpayers money.

/But it will be fun to watch!

I dunno...I would feel pretty threatened if an armed man followed me around in a car, then got out of his car then started pursuing me on foot.

If they shoot as good as they spell, Zimmerman has nothing to worry about.

You don't need to be assaulted, you just need to "feel" threatened.
