Here is another image that gives you the impression that it is animated as the spiral design here seems like it is spinning out and the little dots are flickering on and off as if you are at a carnival. Don't get too lost in it though...

For some reason that doesn't happen when I look at it.

Clearly they should have used some of these as test in BladeRunner. No way to mimic the insanity of the human mind.

I'm pretty sure some of those just don't work on the color blind

I don't see anything special either, maybe we're both brain damaged.

The whole image is vibrating/pulsing quickly for me, while the little dots inside the dark areas sparkle like crazy. It's unpleasant, in a PCP kind of way.

I would describe mine as throbbing. And without any sparkle.

Something like that, yeah. It doesn't spin, but the dots do flicker, and the whole thing feels.... weird. Like it's *almost* moving, or moving too quick to see. And yeah, kinda painful to look at.

I didn't get the jealous boyfriend one either. At least, I always think it looks like a slightly annoyed David Bowie.

The spinning girl one doesn't work at all for me. Looks like it is spinning clockwise no matter what I do. And the girl/boyfriend thing just looks like a picture of a girl with a bunch of wierd shadows.

Does anyone get the jealous boyfriend one?

The spinning girl was counter-clockwise (right brain: spatial, artistic) when I first saw it and then clockwise (left brain; logical, analytical) after I read the explaination.

Yea, that explanation is a bunch of garbage. There is no hemispheric asymmetry in processing that image, given normal to corrected-normal vision. That is merely a speculation made by some cognitive scientists who don't know too much neuroscience, and TFA propagates even more nonsense about hemispheric specializations. Neither side is more logical or artistic than the other. They just express logic or art differently. In a very general sense, the left hemisphere processes details in a usually linear fashion. Step-by-step instructions are a good example. The right hemisphere, by contrast, processes in a "big picture" or holistic kind of way. Each can express logic or art just fine, even if they aren't always the kinds of logic or art we are most familiar with.

I could only make it about 20 feet before I had to start considering drilling a hole in the wall of my apartment.

Joking aside though, try pressing "-" two or three times to zoom out in your browser, then back away from the monitor and try again. In my case it may help that I'm slightly nearsighted.
