Can they get Brad Garrett to do the part? He rocked the VO for that part in the 90s cartoon.

Lobo?!?

They get Spider-Man, X-MEN, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Hulk, Avengers.

We get great Batman movies, a crappy/creepy Superman movie ... and Lobo.

I guess we needed a 2nd Lobo thread since the one from the weekend was such a barn-burner.

I thought Bruce Timm's version worked well, but not as a stand alone character.

Most of the Marvel and DC universe are supporting or ensemble characters. With the exception of the big guys like Batman and Spiderman. they don't work well alone.

I am morally opposed to seeing "GL." The comic? Fine. The movie? FARK YOU!

Oh. Good. More comic book movies. This is so great. We need more comic book movies. There aren't enough. And they're all such good movie. They characters are so compelling. The story lines are so wonderful. I can't wait for this movie. Because it is a comic book movie. We need more of them. Why do they even make movies that aren't comic book movies? They should remake all non-comic book movies as comic book movies. Those would be good movies. Like this movie will be.

When they had a ready made story in "Emerald Dawn" and instead made...that well, DC shouldn't be asking why are they a light-year behind Marvel Studios in terms of comic-book movies.

Not at all against comic-book movies; I'm against comic-book movies with adaptations that make you cringe and ask why did they greenlight this in the first place.

Look. We get it.
These directors and writers and such come into your house, tie you up and force you to watch them as they bang your mom on the kitchen table.
I realize it might be hard to sit through a 30 second trailer for a film you won't see because of your oh-so hectic life and that there aren't enough Sandra Bullock/Reese Witherspoon/black and white artsy films out there for people such as yourself who don't like escapism every once in a while.
I mean besides Netflix/ redbox,/Blockbuster/ Local rental houses/ Pawn Shops and smaller theaters, it must be IMPOSSIBLE for you to be fulfilled in life as it's obvious these movies are the bane of your existence.
My only thought is that maybe you should move to an island where these movies can't hurt you.

Either that or quit you're farking crying, pussy.

From the article:
Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard-boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s

From Wikipedia:
An alien, Lobo works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hardboiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s. The character enjoyed a short run as one of DC's most popular characters throughout the 1990s.

My kids and I liked Green Lantern.

Not as much as X-Men First Class, since we saw them an the same day, but it wasn't as bad as some people are trying to make it seem.

One of the great things about the Lifetime channel is that they really limited Hollywood's ability to market character dramas. Movies like "Ordinary People" or "On Golden Pond" would never see the inside of a theater today, they'd go directly to Lifetime. And that is a good thing. Hollywood should focus on making movies only Hollywood can make. If that means comic book movies, then more power to them.

I loved the Green Lantern, but when I grew up all we had was superman and crap. Every other super-hero adaption was on tv and the hero had to be changed to meet the budget and special effects limitations of the time.

So every super-hero had the same powers, they could crash through walls, jump real high in slow motion (making a whistle type sound on the way up) they could bend a gun with their bare hands and if a couple of bad guys tried to get away, they could lift up the back of their car enough that the rear tires would spin, when the bad guy got tired of holding the gas pedal down the hero would set the car down, walk to the driver side door and rip it off the hinges. That is if the budget allowed, if not the police would roll up before they got out of the car.

If someone hates the Green Lantern they are a spoiled brat, but they are allowed to hate Catwoman and certain Batman movies.

How long until they do a gritty reboot? You know they're going to totally fark this up from the get go.
