WhyteRaven74: After Ann said she doesn't think women should be paid as much as men a few days ago, there's really no need to worry how he'll do with women.

Wasn't that an onion article?

...and to show you how much he loves the middle and working classes, he's going to raise their taxes!

The Poor? He loves them, too... He's going to gut social services for them and raise their taxes so they have skin in the game. (Not that golden brown, sun-tanned skin you get from visiting your money in the Cayman Islands, mind you.)

What he isn't going to do is raise taxes on folks like him... those people have had enough breaks in their lives.

jso2897: ghare: jso2897: Why doesn't he just drop it, and tell the truth? Say: "Hey - let's cut the crap. I am nothing like you people. I am richer, smarter, luckier, and more powerful than any of you will ever be, and I am far more qualified than any of you dumbasses to run things, so vote for me, ya dumb shiats!"
I'd respect that. And I'll bet even money that a lot of voting Republicans would too.

But he ISN'T smarter. (and being smart isn't a selling point when you're talking about the Republican base anyway). He got where he is because of his daddy. Like W.

Case in point: Romney's disastrous speech in Detroit. Want to know why it sucked so bad? Because Romney wrote it himself.

I didn't mean the "truth" truth, silly. I meant the politician quality truth.

Not that Romneys aren't clueless, but you might want to check your sources. Satire sites do say the darndest things.

At this point one has to wonder if Romney's staff actually gives him advice, or if they're just trolling him as well. Because he's not doing a good job at anything even remotely related to being a presidential candidate.

Romney's not afraid to ignore his advisers and take the bull by the ears. As was pointed out ealier, he didn't like his advisers' Detroit speech so he wrote his own (NPR story from the weekend, I can't find a link). It sucked. Because he just isn't that talented or smart. I mean, he's not a dolt. But his success stems primarily from having the good fortune of being born to George Romney. And he probably works pretty hard, woo-hoo, so does his gardener. But it wasn't talent that got Mittens where he is today.

trotsky: wademh: [www.moviesbyrizzo.info image 300x376]

That's unfair to Idi. Idi really was a product of the lower classes in a colonial society. Hell, he basically took power as a Lieutenant, which made him the highest ranking officer in Colonial Uganda. Sure he killed a couple hundred thousand of his own people, but comparing him to Mittens is unfair...Idi pulled himself up by his bootstraps to become dictator. He only gutted Uganda's middle class out of Africa-first racism, not pure profit.

I have a very erudite and compelling response that is entirely eviscerated by the fact that I'm responding to somebody with a "trotsky" handle. Prescience must be respected.

Not to always bring this back to his religion, but a fair number people have noted that Romney's campaign style is very close to the way Mormons train their missionaires to interact with potential recruits. First and foremost missionaries are taught to break the ice with people by finding some sort of commonality with them no matter how strained or remote. "Oh Um!'Gala you feed your family by fishing from a canoe in crocodile infested waters? I know where you're comin' from, my dad used to take me fly fishing for trout in the Colorado river. And if there's one thing we Fisherman know, its patience, Am I right? Kinda like the patience Joseph Smith showed when he..."

No.... Romney's wealthy. He's so far removed from anything "normal" Americans have to deal with, it's ludicrous that he even tries to pretend he does.

Sure, he knows what it's like to worry about getting a pink slip.

Sure, him and his wife know what it's like to struggle.

No one is buying his bullshiat. That's why people hate him.

Well, that and he has the personality of a wet sock.

Who the hell knows what he'd actually do as President (well, I'm pretty sure he'd make sure he got larger tax breaks, but other than that)?

He says all kinds of things, and contradicts himself often. Not to mention lying about Obama at all times.

What will he do to the nation? Probably what Bain Capitol did to its acquisitions. Cut all infrastructure spending, and 'privatize' everything he can, at huge expense.

Oh, of course not. Mitt really has no talent. When you grow up in that kind of privilege, you don't have the ambition to really break free of the easy life. But I didn't know that Mitt was negating his advisors. That explains a lot about his campaign, and really comes off as being Sarah Palinish: not only does he know best, he knows that being 'honest' will always win the day. Except when it completely wrecks everything.

This only means that MItt will make plenty of more mistakes before he has a presence of mind to ask for help...two days before the election.

Not to always bring this back to his religion, but a fair number people have noted that Romney's campaign style is very close to the way Mormons train their missionaires to interact with potential recruits. First and foremost missionaries are taught to break the ice with people by finding some sort of commonality with them no matter how strained or remote. You're absolutely right. Mitt has that air of 'I'm going to convince you whether you like it or not' attitude that a lot of pushy religious types have. You know, the kind that comes off as both not listening at all and a completely sleazy salesperson. I don't get the con artist part of his spiel as much as the 'pathetic' part, however. But in either case, we're dealing with someone who thinks they are smarter than they actually are. I don't see how it's even possible for him to cater to the moderates at this point, or if he even thinks he has to. The hubris coming off of this asshole is legendary. At this point we're just going to be waiting for those little moments of insanity to bubble up. I wonder if he'll suspend his campaign to 'save' the economy...?

This isn't what it looks like. I was doing my monthly check for testicular cancer when a small earthquake knocked that bottle of Jergens off the shelf and onto my keyboard. I know--it's a million to one--but the bottle typed "fart porn" into Google and hit return before the cap opened and some of the lotion spilled onto my hand. See? It's all totally innocent.

I just get annoyed when things get so hyperpartisan Obama. I don't see how people can still be so enthusiastic about him. I do think he's better than Romney, but not be a wide margin.
