I'd rather have the $17,000.

2012-04-22 04:00:01 PM
Her chances are good, though, seeing as how there's so many people wishing she gets cancer now.

2012-04-22 04:01:25 PM
Didnt this exact thing happen last year?

The sentence for this should be that they actually give you cancer. Just like the sentence for pretending to be a soldier should be that you get drafted and deployed to Afghanistan.

/Had childhood leukemia. Shiat sucked.

Gomez's lawyer, Sheldon Myers, told KVIA, "She has a real soft spot for people that suffer from those types of diseases, and that's why she was trying to get money for them."

Ya, she's got a real soft spot for them, soft enough to take money that might have been donated to a person who really has cancer. What a piece of shiat. I hope you get shanked and killed in FPYITA prison. And as to the lawyer, I have never ceased to be amazed at the depths of lowness that these people can achieve. One wonders how they sleep at night.

meh, not impressed. I've called in sick to work just to take a day off. I faked sick and they paid me. Same thing, just a different scale.

Looks like she got a lot of sympathy prom queen votes, too.

I think this is far different than calling in sick. That is a benefit provided to you by your employer, who has controls (for instance, in my workplace I think we can only have 2 unexcused absences a quarter?), and if you go beyond those controls, you (can) get fired.

She stole goodwill. The worst thing to steal. Everyone that was ripped off by her is going to be a little hesitant, a little slower to reach for the wallet the next time this happens to a real victim.

i know your tolling, but just in case you convince anybody... The ONLY way this would be the same would be if your company insists that you must be actually sick to use a sick day. Most just call them sick days and they are actually "i just don't want to come in for some personal reason that i really don't have to tell my employer" days. but yes, if your company actually requires you be sick to use a sick day, then it was illegal and you could be prosecuted.

I hear that stacks of money can be surprisingly comfortable.

I have to believe that the family was in on it. They didn't seem surprised that she was collecting money, and didn't deny that she did not in fact have cancer. If the DA can prove it, everyone who had knowledge of this should be jailed.

TADA
this is why you give directly to places like hospitals, research universities, planned parenthood, american cancer society and you avoid shiat-holes people who might be scamming and SGK.

How do you get to the point where the thought "I think I will pretend I have cancer" seems like a good idea?

Crap didn't want my home town to make it to Fark this way I wanted something way more funny. Also FTA: Court documents stated that Gomez is 4 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 65 pounds.

my first thought was wondering how the hell do people actually believe they can get away with this shiate. But then I realized that I suppose someone, somewhere out there, really might be getting away with this shiate. And then I remembered (not that I could really ever forget)- people suck.

Not only did that money not go to someone who needs it, but now a whole bunch of people are wary of donating money. Great job, jackass!
