The rest of the world generally views Obama as the finest American president in living memory.

The reason that the bulk of the US doesn't think the same is due to US network propaganda.

I realize you aren't making it, so the comment to follow isn't directed at you, but this argument right here is something of a pet-peeve of mine.

Right now, a weak US dollar is a good US dollar. Why? Because our real unemployment rate is in the mid teens, that's why. A weak dollar means more exports which means more jobs. A weak dollar doesn't hurt most citizens because we aren't seeing any price inflation. It doesn't hurt poor people because income support is adjusted in real terms. It is sort of a hassle for people who travel, but due to the economy, the only people traveling a great deal are folks who really don't worry much about their spending. A slow weakening of the dollar right now is a good thing; causing it is one of the reasons why we've been keeping interest rates so low. It will mean a transfer of debt away from the US, and it will bolster our rather anemic recovery.

Look at Japan; their fundamentals have been solid for 10 years, and while their economy hasn't been as terrible as many people think it has, one of the major stumbling blocks during its recover has been (and continues to be) the yen's stubbornly mighty buying power. That the dollar is slipping a bit means we might not need to worry about a similar situation here.
