Working towards a younger average age wouldn't hurt! I'm admittedly biased, but I thought that frequently the youngsters on the Blues were a step quicker to loose pucks, and had a bit more zip late in periods. That could be from Hitchcock's short shifts though.

Pre-series, the StL media (and many fans including myself) pretty much felt that the Sharks' post-season experience would be their main advantage, and the reason they could upset the Blues. Nothing wrong with experience, but sometimes it's just a euphemism for "old!"
