mephisto6: desertgeek: Well, tonight's game is on the main fox sports az channel. I think I heard that they used the CSN Chicago feed for games 1-2.

well that's cool, but i would still like to see a national broadcast perspective. Even if it's some scrubs.

Next round, there's no local coverage. NBC has exclusive rights from round 2 on.

Yeah, not sure what that was about. Maybe San Jose wants to be behind so they feel more comfortable.

Oh classic Grapes.
Bark at Spezza for not shooting enough and segue into telling D to let goalies see the puck and get your sticks out of the shot.

Maybe his ribs? I think he hit the net pretty hard.

No, that doesn't make sense, only Pennsylvania teams are more comfortable when they are behind...

While I'd really like a 5-3 PP for SL, I'm glad that the 2nd one wasn't called. On the replay he went down REAL easy (complete with a "owww, he hit me in the face" head jerk). I hate divers.

/I'd love to see a rule come in that the officials can review any play between periods & hand out 4 minute unsportsmanlike penalties at the start of the next period for blatant dives (truly blatant though, I'm not sure this one rose to that level). That silly crap would stop fast if the players knew that they could get slammed later for being a dick now.

It's true.

They either need to drop the instigator, or start using officials who are, you know, competent.

I'd ask Grapes how no instigator rule would've saved Hossa.
I agree with the guy about the instigator rule doing more harm than good, but the Torres hit doesn't really fall under the "picking on the stars" argument.

"Jonesy, you're just going to be a dick about this one"..... Epic.

2012-04-21 08:08:24 PM
(slight correction - 4 minute penalty if there was a penalty called on the other team because of the dive, 2 min otherwise. The diving team needs to be punished & not just a wash of one team getting the penalty & the other getting a matching one for diving. There's too much incentive to try a dive in that (current) situation)

Devils to the PP.

Watching the Fleischman injury in stop frame. Stick hit his left knee/shin, player ran into gut/ribs with leg, left elbow hit ice, possible left shoulder stinger, left side/ribs hit goal post, Devil lands on top of him.

Could be any number of things.

While I was reviewing that, any word on how he's doing?

I'm afraid to turn it back to CSNBC now.

It's not just about taking liberties with stars. It's about taking liberties with anyone.

How many guys thought twice about "crossing the line" on a guy because he knew he'd get his teeth knocked down the back of his throat by guys like Probert and Twist?

That always made him the poster boy for Attention Whore refs for me (cue Don Cherry biatching about the linesmen waving guys out of the face off "Oh Look At Me....Look at me....)

The hair can now be found on TSN in the "C'Mon Ref" feature during intermissions with James Duthie. Lots of smarm in that combo right there.
