Joni Mitchell still sounds great. What an amazing artist.

Years of smoking and simple aging have taken their toll. But if you think she sounds great, you ought to see what she wrote ! :)

Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump and Joni Mitchell- the only two famous things from/in Fort MacLeod.

"Hey, guys (scrunches face) These lyrics are just a big ol' downer. I pepped them up by changing them to be about this one time in Social Studies I let a cute boy borrow my pen and then he forgot to give it back. We can call it 'Little Yellow Pen' instead!"

The Twilight Generation, really? Is the media so desperate to categorize generations that they're turning to hacky movie franchises that no one will remember in 5 years?

Shut up, old man! You're just jealous because you're a member of the Howard the Duck generation!

If she can act*, she should go for it.

If not, keep her away from the project.

*Keep in mind that I haven't watched Valentine's Day.

Howard the Duck is way, way better than Twilight.

Even as, you know, a vampire movie.

/that is all

2012-04-21 01:27:30 PM
I *liked* Howard the Duck.

:-/

Oh for... Taylor Swift. As Joni? Bahahahahahaaaaa!

Can Feist act? Serious question.

2012-04-21 01:29:35 PM
No.

Was?!

GreatGlavinsGhost: Was?!

yeah. this.

/thinking subby is closer to "the twilight generation" than he/she would care to admit

GreatGlavinsGhost: Was?!

She was an active musician, now she's retired and doing Morgellons syndrome advocacy work. That's one way to take it.

That or subby's just derpy.

Canton: She was an active musician, now she's retired and doing Morgellons syndrome advocacy work. That's one way to take it.

I took the "was" to pertain to the past, or to mean that the generation in question doesn't understand the scope and significance of Joni Mitchell's career.

That, or...

Canton: That or subby's just derpy.

... this, pretty much.

I'm assuming she'd lip synch cuz I can't see Taylor singing something like Hejira

/Joni + Jaco = Heaven.

Look, you can hate Love Actually. I understand that. But if you don't miss up just a bit at the use of Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" and Emma Thompson's performance in that scene, well, I don't know what to tell you.

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: I *liked* Howard the Duck.

:-/

......Really?

I'm not saying that Howard the Duck was *good.*

That distinction needs to be made clear.

2012-04-21 02:02:18 PM
First she does a voiceover in The Lorax, then she soundtracks The Hunger Games. I think movie execs are starting to draw a "Taylor = $Texas" connection

2012-04-21 02:02:32 PM
It must have taken hours for technicians to eliminate Taylor's "O-face" after hearing she was in contention...

2012-04-21 02:02:33 PM
Taylor Swift as Joni Mitchell?

What's next. Justin Bieber as Paul Robeson?

......Really?

The comics were by far the weirdest shiat Marvel ever put out. The movie, meh. Even the tie-in book outright apologized to anyone who saw it.

Taylor Swift as Joni, guess I've seen the world from both sides now.

I don't think kids care who JM is, but it'll sure sell tickets.

Oh come on, I was 8 when Howard the Duck came out. At least call me the Hook generation, that's just as insulting.

farking Robin Williams, douche. Although unlike in Howard the Duck, in Hook Lea Thompson never threatened a diminutive creature with showing her tits. That's what All the Right Moves was for.

Honestly, I only pulled Howard the Duck out of thin air by looking at my DVD case...

Plus, I had too much respect for UHF to use it in comparison to Twilight.

I would like to put my penis into Taylor Swift's vagina, if you know what I mean... And I think you do.

I'll go see the movie. It will be about Carly Simon and Carol King too. The book is reportedly fantastic, I don't care who plays who as long as it's as interesting as it sounds.

That's partially why Feist came to mind. Excellent singer-songwriter, happens to be Canadian, wouldn't be an insult to Joni... Very different stylistically, but that doesn't seem to be an issue.

jaytkay: Taylor Swift as Joni Mitchell?

What's next. Justin Bieber as Paul Robeson?

I hear Chris Tucker is in contention for the Robeson bio-pic 'cause Hollywood execs think the whole civil rights advocacy/communism thing will test poorly and so they are thinking of making it more of a buddy comedy-with a talking dog

2012-04-21 06:57:20 PM
So she had her agent send out a press release saying she was "circling" the role.

Ballsy.
