50-45 Jones....if he loses more than 1 round on any judges card its bullshiat

MrJesus: Bowel Shaking Earthquakes of Doubt and Remorse: MrJesus: should've been kicking those legs all night.. shad would've gotten his takedown and it prob would've ended there..

I think you've been sniffing too much airplane glue.

jones has a fantastic base, there is no doubt about that - but his legs are definitely not his strong point. it's a basic takedown gameplan to tire the opponent's legs with kicks so you can shoot or sweep something.

Evans couldn't even get close enough to throw leg kicks.

Shouldn't have let go of that guillotine.

I think JJ took it easy on Rashad.

Round 5

Evans knows he has to finish. He puts otu a couple of jabs after getting stomped on the knee. Joness shows a front kick and a long uppercut that misses the mark. Jones puts out a jab and eats a leg kick for the clowning around. Evans tries a leg kick and continues to eat the long jabs. They exchange missed punches and Jones follows with another jab. Another jab and then a 1-2 that connects perfectly on the striaght. Jones tries it again, missing this time. Evans tries teh straight of his own, missing. Jones comes back with an elbow and a front kick that both connect well. THey reset into the center. Jones moves into range and easily avoids a spinning backfist form Evans. Jones clinches up and knees to the legs. They break and continue to paw at one another. Jones continues to use the reach and pulls guard for whatever reason as the round closes.

10/9 Jones. Don't know why he pulled but whatever

Judges scores it 49-46 49-46 and 50-45 for Jon Jones to retain the Light heavyweight title.

I think they might have given him the first round because of the head kick.

That's what I'm thinking.. and i disagree with it. Yeah, Rashad got the kick in and a few other strikes before that, but Jones had octagon control throughout.

J. Frank Parnell: What's with all the Rashad hate anyway? I've always thought he was a nice enough guy and a good fighter.

He's a classless fighter. It's not uncommon for him to grab his crotch or act in some other belligerent fashion, and he did it AGAIN, tonight, when he wiped his ass during one of the early rounds. He's got a big mouth, he has no class, and he's not an exciting fighter.

Oh, and if Tito could've just kept his goddamn hands off the cage, his fight with Tito wouldn't have been a draw- Evans lost that fight.

Going after Jones's legs isn't quite the game plan a lot of people seem to think it is, IMHO.

One, thinner-looking legs don't necessarily make it a weak spot; tone and checking technique matter more than mass. Two, that godawful reach of his means that throwing a leg kick leaves you standing on one foot while, for all intents and purposes, hanging around in the pocket. Three, Jones is an Anderson Silva fan, and he loves to pair scooping that kicking foot with a straight right from the off hand- Rashad ate one of those tonight.

It's an unreliable choice of target, and he's pretty good at punishing it.

The problem is attacking a persons legs requires you to be either
-faster
or
-taller

if you are in deficit of any of those things, you get punched in the face for every leg strike you take. Jones is by FAR taller than anyone he is going to fight, so in order to close the range to deliver an effective kick, means you are well within Jons elbow to the face range. Thats why no fighter attempts it. At best you are landing a small cumulative effect type on an opponent capable of immediately countering with a devastating attack. At worse you are setting yourself up to get taken down by a guy who OBLITERATES people who get taken down by him. The net result is that whatever advantage attacking Jon's legs gets you (slowing him down in later rounds, allowing for take downs in later rounds) is offset by the HUGE disadvantage it gets you (high probablity of KO, getting taken down and getting your face rearranged by an elbow flurry)

Yes, but the alternative is catching elbows and retreating all night. You have better odds of getting lucky in close in a clinch or shoot than sitting there getting tagged all night as Shad just found out.

I kinda feel bad for Hendo. They say he has his choice of title shots. So he can either fight a taller, more creative fighter with a reach advantage, or a taller, more creative fighter with a reach advantage.

I think they were very generous giving Evans even 1 round. Sure, he landed the best shot in the first round, but Jones landed much more and completely controlled the round with the exception of that 15 seconds.

I actually think whoever fights Jones next has a pretty good chance of winning. It's going to be hard for Jones to match anything close to the intensity of this fight; and in MMA, everyone gets beat eventually.
