So personally I never take any precautions against germs. I don't shy away from people who sneeze and cough. I don't wipe off the telephone, I don't cover the toilet seat, and if I drop food on the floor I pick it up and eat it!Even if I'm at side walk cafe! IN CALCUTTA! THE POOR SECTION! ON NEW YEARS MORNING DURING A SOCCER RIOT!

From this moment forth, the reason I put alcohol on everything is to clean it.

I'm NOT a drunk, I'm a germaphobe dammit!

I normally go thru restaurants and eat the things other people drop and also finish the drinks that have not been cleared from the table.

I have a co-worker who washes her hands 20 times a day with hand sanitizer and every time she turns around, she's sick.

Like I tell people like that: "You gotta stop turning around!"

Badass No. 32: mytdawg: Burr: Using my nose is the best way to tell if food has expired or not.

I once had a birthday party for a jar of mayonnaise in the work refrigerator. It had expired exactly a year before. I made a sandwich with it. The women were HORRIFIED.

NICE! I would do that.

I've been saying this for freaking ever. Fark germophobia. It's germophobia that makes you susceptible to illness from the very farking germs you're obsessively trying to kill. I completely do not understand where this "sanitize everything" mentality came from apart from naked ignorance and/or stupidity. If you don't give your immune system things to fight, it's the equivalent of turning your immune system into the nerdy kid in class who ran the projector and got beat up for his lunch money. Except it's germs beating the shiat out of you because your immune system can't deal with confrontation and goes and locks itself in its locker as a preemptive measure.

I've never worried about that shiat. I ate gum someone already chewed and whose remains I found on the ground when I was a kid FFS. I've never had anything worse than a cold. My immune system will eat you for breakfast while doing the Sunday crossword. In ink.

So go right the hell again. Eat food that dropped on the floor. Frolic in the dirt. Play in McDonalds' filthy ball pit. It's good for you!

/Farking pansies.

Beerguy: I have a friend who is a scientist and specializes in the human immune system.

She told me that if she had kids she would let let them play in the dirt and eat stuff dropped on the floor. She says that there is an alarming trend in young adults with very week immune systems as a result of not be exposed to certain bacteria.

I know...CSB

My kids have a sand box, and play in the dirt in the garden, and would play at mall play areas when really little. Other parents are/were horrified we'd expose our kids to so many germs!

That, and we've don't use hand sanitizer. The shock on some people's faces when they hear that.

Hand sanitizers, febreeze, etc can trigger allergies, migraines and asthma. The people that use all that sh*t are usually sick and neurotic and so are their kids.
Mr and I were in ER last year and the girl in the tent next to us was having asthmatic reactions. Her mother told the docotor that they had spent the day at WalMart, eaten lunch at McD's and sanitized the carpets, etc. The Dr. told them her reaction was due to them smoking outside the house. LOL.

At home I generally apply the five hour rule (sometimes I might drop something and not find it until later). Elsewhere I get a little more picky.

I do my part to strengthen my immune system by not washing my hands and licking doorknobs at work when nobody's around.

Five seconds? You've gotta give me at least ten. I mean, how can anyone expect me to get my soup up off the floor in only five seconds?
