They learned, behind closed doors, that declaring life beings at conception means that any miscarriage should result in an accidental death investigation, and had a brief moment of realizing what terrible human beings they were for even suggesting such an idea.

They were just afraid the black fetuses would not get jobs and try and live off of welfare and food stamps.

No. When somebody does the right thing, it doesn't matter what party they belong to. Kudos to the Speaker.

/That's the difference between liberals and conservatives

sprawl15: and had a brief moment of realizing what terrible human beings they were for even suggesting such an idea.

And that is what we call in the "spiraling out of control" business, a moment of lucidity.

When even Oklahoma Republicans are saying "no thanks, this has too much derp potential", your movement is pretty much toast.

So Oklahoma Republicans do have shame. It just takes a lot to make them feel it.

A buddy of mine tried to have this argument - fertilized egg = human being argument.

My wife and I had been going through IVF treatments unsuccessfully.

So I point-blank asked him, "So you think we're murderers?"

Shut him up.

I fully expect to facepalm if they get this measurement on the ballot. Yes, this place is full of derp. It is considered a high art here.

They're worried about a legal challenge, and there are still groups trying to get it on the ballot. I don't think they've let it go so much as are just laying low while they try to find a way around the consequences.

2012-04-19 05:39:48 PM
Why don't they just go full retard and say that life begins at farking. Lock up any chick whose just farked to make sure she doesn't do anything to endanger the "person". When she has her period, arrest her and try her as a vamp and a witch and throw her in a pond with her hands tied behind her back

Let's just cut to the chase and stop dilly dallying with what they really want

Listen, and understand. The Derp is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you vote Republican.

Please, for the love of everything good and pure in the universe, choke on a bowl of dicks.

Oh, and....

Proponents of the bill maintain the measure wasn't intended to ban abortions or threaten reproductive medicine, but only to send a message that Oklahomans believe life begins at conception.

When you lie like this, baby Jesus cries.

Yea, one step forward a couple back. Steele at least has some rational thought now and again. The nut jobs have not taken over completely, though they are getting closer unfortunately.

These "personhood" groups are forgetting that while Republicans and conservatives talk a good game about conservative values, ultimately they really want to have sex with younger women. They also don't want to get those women pregnant and be responsible for a kid for the next 18 years.

Why do you think a lot of conservative states were all for women getting birth control after Viagra became available?

Why do you think Santorum lost big time after he came out against the very things these conservative Republicans like to do?

In fact it gives us hope for the future, a tiny glimmer that we (as a society) just might be ok in the long run. The idea that we can become a culture of tolerance, of science, of reason.

Of course this also makes the fall all the more painful the next time the derpers derp on the herp a derp.

Jacobin: When she has her period, arrest her and try her as a vamp and a witch and throw her in a pond with her hands tied behind her back

The true Biblical solution would be that a menstruating woman must "separate" for seven days. Any object she sits on or lies upon during this period becomes unclean. One who comes into contact with her or her during this period becomes ritually unpure. These impurities must be cleansed by a ritual bath.

Oklahoma Democrats are much like Texas Democrats. They're out there, huddled together in the major urban areas, but far outnumbered by the deep red derp of the rest of the state.

No, the bill was bad. I have no doubt enough rank and file were brought into line that they would not pursue the bill because of the growing fear of national backlash against Republicans in the general election.

You don't need the government to send a message that you believe life begins at conception. So they're stupid or liars.

Actually, it is largely the opposite here in oklahoma. Democrats are rural, and the urban is derp. There are about as many churches as their are people in oklahoma city or tulsa. And I guarantee they are going to get together and come knock on my door at 10 in the morning on a saturday. If I have to rip up one more brochure in front of some douche who wakes me on my day off, well... I am going to enjoy it. But still, keep that junk to yourself.

This legislation definitely would ban abortion and threaten reproductive medicine, exactly as intended (liars) and fails to send any message other than "women are chattle" (stupid).
