Spider thread!

You are never more than 5 feet away from a spider.

All spiders are poisonous.

Why in the world would you want to go to the post office if its filled with poisonous spiders?

2012-04-19 10:06:40 AM
Or in my case 'normal operations'. Zipcode 27615 is awesome for its complete lack of any recognizable ability to do anything. It now takes 3 weeks to get an envelope from Oxnard Ca. It takes 6 days to get a letter from THE SAME Zipcode.

2012-04-19 10:06:46 AM
And you get a bag of Gold and a green helm if you kill 6 of them while retreiving your mail from the back room.

*sigh* Time to update your farkie, again.

Yeah...great idea "customers, come to the spiders that are poisonous".

/pretty sure all spiders are toxic to some degree for their own hunting/killing, but many can't pierce our skin with their tiny fangs.

2012-04-19 10:08:44 AM
Holy cow! Everyone there is getting a three week vacation because one farking spider was spotted.

Really!?!?

I wonder what would happen if I were to inform them that those things love to hang in mail boxes.

2012-04-19 10:10:10 AM
Never do a Google image search on "brown recluse spider bite", especially if you have just eaten.

No, thank you. Please ensure my mail burns in napalm, chemical wash, and radiological sweep that will ensure total spider destruction. OR possibly create unkillable, radioactive mutant spiders.

Who still uses mail, anyway?

One single spider and they panic and shut down the entire building? I don't want to be bitten by one either, but that seems kind of ridiculous. Smash the thing with a shoe and GBTW, jackasses.

We've had them at businesses around where I live, and they typically close for a week to fumigate, clean, dry out, then fumigate again.

Brown recluses like to occupy crawlspaces and the uninsulated space between interior walls, and if you see one, there's a pretty good chance there's a nest of them deep eithin or under your building.

"Wednesday, April 18, 2012...Recluse spiders have been found in the Fairdale Post office. In order to eradicate the creepy crawlers, the Post Office will be closed through at least Monday May 7th. Post Office spokesman David Walton says a spider was recently spotted in the building, but no one was bitten."

They're closing the place for 2.5 weeks because someone saw a few spiders?

2012-04-19 10:32:45 AM
There is no such thing as a poisonous spider as far as I know.

Must... stop...

2012-04-19 10:35:18 AM
That's right, kids. They're closing the place down to fumigate for brown reculuse spiders.

Here's why...

2012-04-19 10:36:19 AM
And yes, I deliberately misspelled "recluse" to look more like "cuthulu."

2012-04-19 10:38:11 AM
Trail of spiders, eh? I'd keep my eyes shut in the post office bathroom... I don't have the gift of parcel tongue.

A daddy longlegs is the most poisonous spider known to man. It can tear destroy buildings with its venom yet fortunately, its fangs cannot pierce the masonry.

Venomous as opposed to poisonous being your argument.
/Try eating one. I think it would be poisonous then.

Reminds me of the island off the coast of Brazil in which every bed-sized area can carry about 11 deadly snakes including a snake specific to that island with a potent toxicity that has never been thoroughly tested.

Thanks ... now I no longer have to worry about what to have for lunch, as I am no longer hungry.

At least I am safe in Great White North, too cold for almost all venomous creatures

That makes sense, after the building is gutted by fire.

Ah, I've gotten worse from hookers.

Bit of an overkill i am willing to bet every house in the town has at least 5 of them inside it, they are one of the most common spiders in the the central US and bites are not very common because rthe spider is non aggressive and will hide if a person walks by. Most bites happen when the spider is hideing in clothing and you put on its house. That being said I have a nasty scar the size of a quarter on my shoulder from when one was hideing in my coat

I heard the daddy long leg is the most poisoning spider on earth but not to humans because their bit is to small to pierce human skin.

As far as I'm concerned, ALL spiders are deadly and must be dealt with appropriately.

/same goes for wasps and bees

You think that's bad, never go to the island off of Costa Rica that has the highest ratio in the world of dinosaurs-reanimated-for-the-amusement-of-a-rich-entrepreneur per square mile.

If by dealt with appropriately, you mean screaming bloody murder until someone else comes in the room to squash it and save you, yes.
