Anthony Hopkins is a very talented actor, therefore I'm not concerned about him portraying Alfred Hitchcock properly.

Of course, I might be a tad prejudice since Anthony Hopkins is in my top 10 of favorite actors.

If the same guy can pull off Nixon and Hitchcock, without looking a bit like either one in real life, no wonder he's a damn knight.

The chin and lips are quite wrong, and since those were always what i considered some distinguishing characteristics of Hitchcock it doesn't work 100% for me.

That said, it'll all come down to the acting. The "looks a bit too dignified" comment is what worries me.

Hitchcock had an overbite which caused his lower lip to curl downwards a bit mor. I'm with you that the lips and jawline are lacking in accuracy but the overall quality of the makeup is well done.

Apparently, even though he has dual US/UK citizenship, he renounced his
knighthood after getting naturalized in 2000.

Not that it wasn't deserved, though.

GARBAGE!

Matt Lucas. Period.

Hopkins is a one note ex drunk who has done maybe two good roles, two great ones...

this is how he wants to go out? YAAAWWNN....

/Hannibal Lecter was not one of the great roles.

Look at the two pictures: Hopkins looks like an English butler. Hitchcock looks like an English bulldog

/seriously, though, Hopkins can probably make it work very well

hannibal standing perfectly erect without moving a muscle in the middle of his enclosure as clarise walks in is one powerful bit of acting. sometimes things that seem so simple can really amaze the viewer and set the mood. hopkins is able to fill a role with a quiet subtlety that many other great actors can't pull off.

so the wifey sez, "shouldn't you wait till you're finished painting the bathroom to mop the floor?" I sez, "you're more than welcome to pick up a paintbrush or a broom for a farking change."

So I sit down and crack open a bottle of vodak and look at my schedule to see what's in front of me today. Looks good ... two post production projects, some soundtrack work, maybe rehearsal later tonight ... should be up by a thousand bucks by noon ...

totally off topic, I know, but I just had to get that out there.

And Hopkins will be a better Hitchcock than Hitchcock, prolly ...

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to darkest Hollywood. Night brings a stillness to the jungle. It is so quiet, you can hear a name drop. The savage beasts have already begun gathering at the water holes to quench their thirst. Now one should be especially alert. The vicious table-hopper is on the prowl, and the spotted back-biter may lurk behind a potted palm. To take me through this most savage of lands, I have hired a native guide. He claims to know where I can find the big ones."
