Can anyone tell me just one thing that the Republicans are offering that would make me think that voting for any Republican would be a good idea?

Seriously, just tell me One Thing, anything, that any GOP candidate supports that will actually help you.

Don't tell me about how bad the Democrats are, I know. Just tell me one thing that the Republicans are offering that would improve your life. Is there anything at all?

I want there to be a viable opposition party, so what are the Republicans offering? How would they make my life better?

Some people think that screaming about death panels and birth certificates and evil teachers taking summer vacation gives their points legitimacy. It doesn't. But telling those people that they don't know what the fark they're talking about is perfectly legitimate.

Crosshair: The facts are rather clear and neither the Dem or GOP leadership has any clue or intention of solving the problem. There's nothing complicated about the fiscal crisis on the horizon. Even assuming the rosiest scenario - a robust recovery from our current malaise, along with interest rates holding at historic lows - the government's own numbers tell us that by 2020 we'll be paying nearly $1 trillion per year just in interest payments on the national debt. That's quite a brick wall we're about to hit.

The fact is that we are not going to keep borrowing at 0%. There is growing unrest in China about the continuing devaluation of the Yuan to perpetuate the currency peg with the dollar. Eventually we are going to have our Greece moment where interest rates skyrocket and Obama, Romney, or whoever is in the White House is going to look awfully stupid in national TV when they announce that the US government has to repudiate all current and future welfare, medicaid, and Social Security payments because foreigners decided to stop throwing good money after bad. Oh and we had to abandon all our troops overseas because we can't afford the jet fuel to fly them home.

Either that or the Fed keeps printing money and your SS check won't buy a load of bread. Hope you like $50 per gallon gas because that is what the status qua is going to give you.

If every (real) dime of increased wages for the last 30 years hadn't gone to the already rich, a lot of things would be different.

Perhaps the average Joe would be able to actually save for his retirement, instead of using his house as a credit card in an ultimately doomed endeavor to maintain the illusion that he has the same standard of living that his parents had.

Since income above ~$100K makes no contribution to Social Security, had the wealth created since then been shared in by the 99% it would've made a contribution to Social Security, which is soon to be sorely missed.

The economic policies pushed by the Republicans since Reagan - tax cuts for those who have no need of them and so-called "trickle down economics," have led to nearly everyone in this nation taking a step, or several, towards poverty. And now, facing a collapsing tax base because of this, those responsible for creating this problem would have us believe that the solution to our budgetary problems is to pre-emptively end all social programs because we can supposedly no longer afford them. I believe that the solution is to reverse the policies which have created such dire need for them in the first place!

You don't know what the fark you're talking about should be the motto of the farking Politics tab.

I'm not gonna handwring over him swearing. It's a cable news show, and their outrage is smug and disingenuous. Oooh, he swore. People slip up when talking about heated discussions. It's embarassing that he didn't realize they were on the air, but he should have run with it. Cable isn't under the jurisdiction of the FCC and he was already in trouble with BS&P after the first f-bomb. He should have shrugged, said it wasn't a big deal, then looked straight at the camera and said with his best shiat-eating grin, "I'm going to apologize with all the honesty and conviction of everyone else here when they apologize. I'm sorry if anyone was offended. That's all you farking get."

I didn't know he was the "liberal" until reading all the outrage about him using the f bomb.
I have only watched bits and pieces of various FOX shows, but whenever I saw him he was saying stuff like:

He called the Tim Tebow sketch on SNL despicable
"First of all, it's despicable to display Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, like that on Saturday Night Live and they should be ashamed of themselves, Beckel said."

He promoted of the Michelle Obama "whitey tape" hoax

He called for the assassination of Julian Assange

He assumes everyone listening to him is a christian.

I have looked up more on him and see now he says things that liberals believe as well...but this guy is not like any liberal I have ever met.

Dear Republicans:

I recognize that you love America as much as I do. I'm sure that you agree that all opinions should be heard, and that all people who are citizens of the US should have an equal say in how our great nation operates.

So, what do you recommend that we do? What proposals are on the table from the Republican party that will actually help you and make your life better? What are the GOP planning on doing that will actually have a beneficial impact on your life?

What (other than "they're not Democrats") are the Republicans offering, and why should I want that?

Does anyone have anything? I know that there are some committed, strong supporters of the GOP who regularly post to this site. Can anyone tell me why I should vote Republican? What are they planning on doing that will help me? Anything at all?

That may be what you think you're saying, but here's what they actually hear:

Dear Republicans:

Blah blah blah love America blah blah blah. Blah blah stupid libby liberal commie blah blah blah, and blah blah blah blah blah blah US blah blah blah blah blah blah blah great nation blah.

So, blah blah blah blah blah blah? Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Republican party blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah? Blah blah blah GOP blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah life?

It's funny how quick you can disarm those arguments too. Was discussing the whole contraception debate with a Republican coworker. His argument was of course the religious angle that the government cannot force the owner of a business or insurance company to provide something that they felt was against their beliefs. So I asked him if he thought the government should respect all religious belief; this was followed by a slightly hesitant yes. So I ask, what about the Taliban?

When they want to bring religion into an discussion involving logical and rational decision making, the best thing you can do is simply extend their logic to it's fullest conclusion so they get to watch their entire argument fall to pieces.

Some backstory...

Neal Boortz was the other guest on the show. The next day on his radio show he was talking about it. He said that normally, during commercial breaks on such shows, the guests are joking around and jovial with each other, no matter what the political differences. It's the norm to have a good time while the cameras are off of you for a few minutes and actually be civil to one another. Well, Neal said that this twat was different. He said that she wouldn't stop arguing during the commercials and just kept getting louder and louder and more annoying. Finally, when Beckle had enough, he said what he said, and it just happened to be right when the show came back on.

Well, they'll keep Obama from letting the UN confiscate all your firearms so that you're defenseless when some urban youth invades your home.
They'll keep gay marriage illegal so that your church isn't forced to perform a wedding for Adam and Steve, which would make you have to reconsecrate the altar.
They'll keep you from having to hand out birth control pills in your office each morning, whether or not such an act violates your religious sensibilities.
They'll keep the Muslims from invading your town by starting a mosque (which would be too close to Ground Zero, even if your town is Honolulu), which will become a center for terrorist recruitment and dropping property values.
They'll round up every single illegal immigrant and kick them all out of the country. They already know where each and every one is and have a plan to deport them - they just need to be able to pass the legislation.
They'll lower your gas prices by two or three dollars a gallon by allowing unlimited drilling in ANWR and the Gulf of Mexico (despite the fact that doing so will add a few percent to the total daily supply), and allowing contruction of the Keystone XL pipeline (despite the fact that the oil it transports will never be sold in the US).
They'll prevent the federal government from taking over your children's education, leading to political indoctrination classes, mandatory athiesm, and Mr. Garrison teaching kindergartens about proper condom use.

Of course, the problem with most of these points is that either rely on leaps of faith that Indiana Jones wouldn't even try, or are just outright lies. I wonder where people get the idea that these things are true?

FloydA: Can anyone tell me just one thing that the Republicans are offering that would make me think that voting for any Republican would be a good idea?

Seriously, just tell me One Thing, anything, that any GOP candidate supports that will actually help you.

Don't tell me about how bad the Democrats are, I know. Just tell me one thing that the Republicans are offering that would improve your life. Is there anything at all?

I want there to be a viable opposition party, so what are the Republicans offering? How would they make my life better?

Depends. Are you rich? Are you a corporation?

That exchange aside, Beckel frequently says the craziest things, like he's either trolling on TV or needs some serious therapy.

I always wanted to ask someone who says that "So, if you believe in personal responsibility, why don't you want to hold the people who screw companies over personally responsible?"

Insulting a tea bagger for being an idiot = Hitler

Thats the most idiotic thing I have ever read on this site (and I am counting my own drunk political posts)

I'm actually surprised anyone that's an adult bats an eye when someone curses. It's even stranger that people think the usage disqualifies an argument. As if "2+2=4" is somehow more true than "2+2=4, fuker".

Crosshair: The facts are rather clear and neither the Dem or GOP leadership has any clue or intention of solving the problem.

IAs always with you, both sides are equally bad. However, all of your solutions are Republican.

Yes. There is one thing: they belong. They belong to a team. They belong to a group of people who make them believe they are wanted and defended.

Team GOP is a huge thing. Huge.
