YELLOL: BTW, Obama's definition of a "rich person" is one with a job. His attacks on small businesses to help the massive unions in the big corporations like GE (who pay no tax and oddly Obama has no problem with) are transparent now.


Obama's definition of a rich person is anyone making more than $250K a year. Seems pretty reasonable to me. The vast majority of people (with jobs) make much less than that so you are very clearly wrong.

It's funny how quick you can disarm those arguments too. Was discussing the whole contraception debate with a Republican coworker. His argument was of course the religious angle that the government cannot force the owner of a business or insurance company to provide something that they felt was against their beliefs. So I asked him if he thought the government should respect all religious belief; this was followed by a slightly hesitant yes. So I ask, what about the Taliban?

When they want to bring religion into an discussion involving logical and rational decision making, the best thing you can do is simply extend their logic to it's fullest conclusion so they get to watch their entire argument fall to pieces.

This kind of rule only works when both sides agree to act and argue rationally. It is a good rule, one I have used in the past with an ex-girlfriend. Oddly enough, it also forced me to do research on what I was talking about and ultimately (along with the nomination of GWB as a Presidential Candidate) pushed me away from the Republican party. It's amazing what you learn once you understand the things you "know to be true" are just talking points and in most cases are not at all correct.

They're gonna stick it to those lazy baby mammas in the ghetto who are sitting around collecting my hard-earned tax money for doing nothing more than breeding another generation of welfare collectors. Well, okay, so I don't actually pay taxes right now. Since Obama killed all the jobs, I've been unemployed for 3 years. You don't see me begging for handouts, though. I manage to get by on my unemployment, food stamps, heating assistance, Medicare and public housing, like a true American. Those lazy crackheads who spend their entire lives living on welfare really piss me off though. Did you know that they will have more children just so that they can get more welfare!? Of course, they're not married or anything either. They just have sex with random strangers so they can spit out more kids and collect more welfare. The Republicans are going to fix all of that, if the stupid libs will let them. Cut the worthless deadbeats off and lower taxes so that when a Republican gets back in the White House and creates jobs so I can get back to work, the government won't confiscate it all so they can give it to illegal immigrants and do government funded abortions.

In the runup to the Civil War, it was not uncommon for weapons to be brandished on the floor of the House. There was the famous beating of abolitionist Senator Charles Sumner by Rep. Preston Brooks (D, South Carolina), among other things. We've got a little way to go before we get there.

If I had the wherwithall today, I would come up with some presidential election that refute that because I know there are some, but the "b-b-but everyone does it!" is a pretty lame rationale for the extremely dickish polarization the naiton is facing today. For instance, the Treaty of Tripoli, complete with the "As the United States is in no way founded on Christianity" Article 11 was published in the newspapers of Philly and NYC (two of the largest cities in the U.S. at the time), and there wasn't any major public outcry, if any. Passed unanimously in Congress too.

Can you imagine the reaction if a piece of legislation including that hit the Floor today?

I recognize that you love America as much as I do. I'm sure that you agree that all opinions should be heard, and that all people who are citizens of the US should have an equal say in how our great nation operates.

So, what do you recommend that we do? What proposals are on the table from the Republican party that will actually help you and make your life better? What are the GOP planning on doing that will actually have a beneficial impact on your life?

What (other than "they're not Democrats") are the Republicans offering, and why should I want that?

Does anyone have anything? I know that there are some committed, strong supporters of the GOP who regularly post to this site. Can anyone tell me why I should vote Republican? What are they planning on doing that will help me? Anything at all?

Bob can be caustic at times and sure he had a period of time where he was more human than most, but all in all, BB is a very decent human being. ' If I am understanding what BB and the Tea Party lady were talking about... Head Start and TP lady was trying to argue Head Start hasn't made a difference, than BB was right in saying she was ehh. hem "wrong."
