24, here.

Of which, like them or not, at least 15 are household names. Submitter apparently lives under a rock.

2012-04-18 03:39:03 PM
24 also. Submitter sounds old.

2012-04-18 03:57:15 PM
So full of fail.

Why not just watch "the Voice" to be up to date on the next big act that they'll shove down your throat... then declare Michael Jackson to be the greatest political song writer ever.

2012-04-18 03:59:48 PM
18 here, very few of which deserved to be on the list.

I'm also going to learn to resist the temptation of pointing out who is still touring and making albums and isn't on the list.

2012-04-18 04:10:39 PM
I've heard about all but three. I like only one of them.

Music reached its all-time historical peak when I was at my most emotionally-vulnerable point during puberty. Fact.

Bruce Springsteen? Jay Z? Adele?

Never heard of 'em!

I have no idea who Jesus Jones is so I really didn't care. But I can't find yours, so let's call it a draw.

No Buckethead?

2012-04-18 05:22:35 PM
Strange. I didn't see Nickelback anywhere on that list.

2012-04-18 05:23:10 PM
I've seen a bunch of them but don't feel like going through that again and counting. Anyways - Radiohead, The Roots and TV on the Radio should all be on there, plus Daft Punk is about to tour again.

/Was sort of expecting Hologram Tupac to make the list

I think he's disqualified because his left hand is actually a hyperactive tarantula.

Exactly.

21, though one I just heard for the first time last week and 3 others I've only heard their name. I would only pay to see 4 of them in concert though:

Bruce Springsteen
Foo Fighters
Jay-Z
Kanye

I recognized 26. Does a good job of picking up the popular mainstream artists, if you're not too daring just yet.

Deslided slideshow

am I the only one who reads "Gotye" as "Goatse?"

2012-04-18 05:53:10 PM
23. Only seen a couple of them live, though.

subby needs to put down the Rush and Yes albums. It's a big world out there, scary as it may be.

2012-04-18 05:54:00 PM
24. "Heard of" is kind of a low bar.

2012-04-18 05:54:15 PM
23. Subby was doin' the troll.

2012-04-18 05:55:58 PM
Gogol Bordello, Gene Ween, NoMeansNo, Clutch, Mastodon, Baroness, Queens of the Stone Age......

2012-04-18 06:00:04 PM
Playing right now? Is this supposed to be "best current live acts"? Because Muse isn't on that list. Girl Talk isn't on that list. Dave Matthews Band isn't on that list.

At least the slideshow loaded quickly.

Solid State Vittles: 23. Only seen a couple of them live, though.

I can't think of a single rock band that hasn't been influenced by them.

I will forever read it that way now.

The 30 greatest musical acts playing right now whose publicists wanted them to be in EW this week.

I am old, and I know 21 of them. Helps to have a college-age daughter living at home.

Led Zepplin?
The Who?
The Crickets?
Rolling Stones?

there's 4

I do take issue with the idea that the members of Fun were in groups that were "non-starters".

Nate Ruess was in The Format for 7 years and they had 2 good albums. Dog Problems is one of my favorite albums.

2012-04-18 06:03:35 PM
I guess music has passed me by, because there's not a single performer (aside, perhaps, from Springsteen) on there I would have the slightest interest in seeing.

Boy, that's a lot of sh*t right there. I feel sorry for music fans today if this is the best that's out there. Phew!

I was into them before they sold out, now I listen to stuff so cutting edge that it would fry your hair

27. Calvin Harris, Azealia and ASAP are the only ones I didn't know.

What do I win?

Don't know Jesus Jones?? This needs to be fixed, right here, right now.

20. And I'm old.

2012-04-18 06:07:47 PM
That being said, the Fighters of Foo are probably the only one I'd pay money to see (Maybe BRUUUUUUUUCE!, but that depends on how much tickets cost)...

2012-04-18 06:08:47 PM
Gunny Highway: Gogol Bordello, Gene Ween, NoMeansNo, Clutch, Mastodon, Baroness, Queens of the Stone Age......

Dude, NoMeansNo are still alive?? They must be like 80 now or something.

/and likely still KILLING it each and every show.

deslidified

This list is so full of fail I don't even know where to begin.

They are by far my favorite band and I have never had a chance to see them play. They do well in Europe and mostly tour there.

I was expecting a challenge. Subbs don't like hipster music? Subbs go stream some music from 89.3 the current.com. Most of those acts suck.

2012-04-18 06:18:26 PM
ugh, most of that list sucked. I know 24 of them and most of them should be nowhere near a "greatest" list, unless you are making a list of attention whores.

2012-04-18 06:18:42 PM
Speak for yourself, subby--25, quite a lot I disagree with. I am glad to see fun. get recognition, but wish it weren't for "We are Young."

/i feel the first half of Some Nights is good, then goes downhill, except for the bonus track, which should have been included in the main album.
//Dog Problems ftw

Pop and hipster noise. Terrible list.

2012-04-18 06:21:11 PM
28 I've heard of, 10 I've seen live, since we're all whipping out our e-peens.

That's the song from some commercial. That's the only place I've heard it.
